Tennis Australia continues racist policy
Nov 24th, 2015 at 10:08am

Bernard Tomic and Nick Kyrgios racially discriminated again by Tennis Australia

...

Tennis Australia continues with it's racist policy eliminating two best Aussie tennis players from getting Newcombe Medal because of their non Anglosaxon origin.
In protest both Bernard Tomic and Nick Kygrios were not present at Tennis Australia’s Newcombe Medal presentation in Melbourne because of policy based on racial preferences in tennis Australia.
Instead the medal was awarded to the worst ranked, but with  Anglosaxon origin, player Sam Groth.
Such policy that is rather based on race than merits could be very damaging for tennis future in Australia.

Fellow Australians Bernard Tomic (world number 18) and Nick Kyrgios (number 30) out-rank Groth, the world number 60, but were not nominated due to off-court indiscretions.

'Newcombe Medal

The Newcombe Medal is awarded annually to Australia’s most outstanding elite tennis player and ambassador for the sport. Nominees for the award are selected by an esteemed panel of Australian champions and highly respected individuals in the tennis community. The award is named in honour of the achievements of Australian tennis legend John Newcombe.'

I can think of a couple of reasons apart from "racism".

Wow, seriously?

Athos have you watched some of the errors in judgement demonstrated by these two blokes. There is no doubting their tennis credentials, but they have both also made it a bit of a sport to make appalling behavioural choices, as such, they're not considered appropriate "ambassador" material.

As to the person nominated, ranked 60? was it? You don't know much about tennis if you think that equates to doing nothing either.

Elite in other words should only really apply to the top one (or two maybe)...

I think its a bit of a dumb thread to be honest.

Indeed, I play hockey with a guy who got to 202nd in the world in golf. He'd still kick my ass at golf, even though thats not a high ranking.

The other funny site every for TdF is the lantern rouge (the red lantern) given to the cyclist who is officially last. But the web site has the caveat about even though the lantern rouge is last, he's still better than all but about 150 cyclists in the world.

Really want to know why those idiots didn't win the Medal?

Well its quite simple, Tomic & Kygrios aren't fit enough to lick a drop of sweat off of Don Newcombe's left nutsack on their best day , that's why those inbred assholes didn't win!

That said, tennis is lost sport, rife with over-paid, conceited, self-centered, spoiled, low-class, lil kiddy-men.

When this pair grow up, & permanently get their acts in order, maybe Australian Tennis will reconsider them before arthritis & alzheimers set in.

...  Till then let them pout in their lil rooms.   ...    Grin Grin Grin Grin
