Well somebody in Bankstown doesn't like Christmas trees rose petal.

Or it was just kids.

Homo's already ruled out kids, Mother. Remember, this is "suspicious".

Let's widen our field of investigation. Can we rule out Muslims-destroying-Christmas enthusiasts from Western Sydney?

I beg your pardon. I went leaping to another conclusion.

Now Muslims-destroying-Christmas may quite easily come from Western Sydney. There's problems with trees and Muslims in Double's street anyway.

I can't believe you ladies (well Karnal is almost a lady) don't find it possible that a religious nut set this tree alight. Bankstown is a massive Muslim area. A bunch of jihadists live in this area.

Conversely, i find it difficult to believe you don't think it was probably just kids.

But there we have it.

I didn't say it was kids but I don't disagree.  I think it's religously motivated though.

Christmas trees are not religious emblems. They are anachronisms from pagan times.

Quote:
The Prophet Jeremiah condemned as Pagan the ancient Middle Eastern practice of cutting down trees, bringing them into the home and decorating them. Of course, these were not really Christmas trees, because Jesus was not born until centuries later, and the use of Christmas trees was not introduced for many centuries after his birth. Apparently, in Jeremiah's time the "heathen" would cut down trees, carve or decorate them in the form of a god or goddess, and overlay it with precious metals. Some Christians currently feel that this Pagan practice was similar enough to our present use of Christmas trees that this passage from Jeremiah can be used to condemn both:
Jeremiah 10:2-4: "Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not." (King James Version).

bullet      In Europe, Pagans in the past did not cut down whole evergreen trees, bring them into their homes and decorate them. That would have been far too destructive of nature. But during the Roman celebration of the feast of Saturnalia, Pagans did decorate their houses with clippings of evergreen shrubs. They also decorated living trees with bits of metal and replicas of their God, Bacchus.

Tertullian (circa 160 - 230), an early Christian leader and a prolific writer, complained that too many fellow-Christians had copied the Pagan practice of adorning their houses with lamps and with wreathes of laurel at Christmas time. 8,9,10,11

bullet      The English Puritans condemned a number of customs associated with Christmas, such as the use of the Yule log, holly, mistletoe, etc. Oliver Cromwell preached against "the heathen traditions" of Christmas carols, decorated trees and any joyful expression that desecrated "that sacred event." 2,4

bullet      In America, the Pilgrim's second governor, William Bradford, a Calvanist, tried hard to stamp out all "pagan mockery" at Christmas time. 4 Christmas trees were not used by Puritans in colonial times. However, if they were, they would certainly have been forbidden.

bullet      In 1851, Pastor Henry Schwan of Cleveland OH appears to have been the person responsible for decorating the first Christmas tree in an American church. His parishioners condemned the idea as a Pagan practice; some even threatened the pastor with harm. But objections soon dissipated. 2

Well done Micro Pee Pee. Pagans may have used cut down trees for celebrations but a Christmas tree is part of the celebrations for the birth of Jesus. Now go and have a bong.

Exactly. Let's look at the suspect's modus operandi. He or she has set a flamable object alight. The target: a tree. But not just any old tree, a Christmas tree.

What sort of person would do such a thing? He or she must be angry. More, seething with resentment. The location is critical: Lebland. What we have here is someone burning with anger at Lebs, and burning is the operative word.

Now, we know arsonists never strike at home, so the suspect is unlikely to be a local. Arsonists travel and attempt to cover their tracks, which in this case they have - so far. South-Western Sydney? No. My calculation is is Western Sydney, and I'll provide my explanation.

The target of the suspect's anger: a tree. But why a tree? And why a Christmas tree? We know that this is the time for tree-lopping. Neighbours are fighting over their back fences. Since Eid, home dwellers have been fertilising their lawns and pruning their trees. Neighbour has been pitted against neighbour, religion against religion. Across the suburbs, neighbourhood battles have erupted. The target, a tree, is revenge. Cold-blooded revenge, nothing more, nothing less, and I will explain why.

The suspect is a Western Sydney resident getting revenge against Lebs. Now who among us is from Western Sydney? Yes, I am myself from Wesern Sydney, so in the light of reason I must hold myself as a suspect. But who has a tree-lopping neighbour, a dirty Paki no less? And who has been referring to this crime all week? We know that arsonists take great pride in their work. Who consistently gets Lebs mixed up with Pakis, Pakis with Curries, Curries with Lebs, and on and on? Who gets their targets wrong time and time again? Who gets their info mixed up? Who makes up porkies to finger the Muselman, and does such a clumsy job they are nearly always exposed? Indeed, who started this very thread?

Would anyone care to hazzard a guess at the suspect's identity?
