There was a doco on someone who made the thing before the vacuum tube,.. the tube that still had gas in it. Someone sued him because it didn't work as good as he said it would and AT&T bought the idea for a song so he could pay off his legal fees then proceeded to remove the gas and the rest is history Shocked
