We are saying that we cannot hammer sense into the block of concrete you use for a head. The Netflix has slowed down the whole network!

There is a node was put up just around the corner of my street. On returning from the market this afternoon I saw a technician working on it so stopped the car and chatted to him.

He agreed FTTN was a joke barely capable of 5:1. It has an airconditioner (so triple the power cost) at the front and a fan at the back. But he told me if it got over 30°C the thing would stop working.

We had a good laugh and I finished driving home.

FTTN is a joke.

Telehealth is not teleconferencing
. How many times do you have to be told something before you get it? 100?

Then what is it?  And feel free to give me actual real-world examples.

And we know you wont.

I have already done this. Go have a look.

You keep saying that and then never show them. If you had an real-world examples you would be trumpeting them loud and long, but all you had was skyping - which we can currently already do.

No, it's about replacing old tech with new. You can buy just an NBN phoneline. You can also buy 10, 100 or 1000Gb connections. It allows every connection, the same as the old copper used to. Do it once, do it uniformly as the copper generally was. Why resurrect old tech as part of the plan? There should be no revamps of copper or coax. As they become "past lifetime" they should be replaced, not repaired.

Just as long as YOU dont have to pay for it.

WHat about if you had the option of FTTN or FTTH but you had to pay $1000 to get FTTH. Would you pay it?  It would certainly separate those who seriously want fast internet from those that dont.

"But I don't need anything faster than ADSL so we shouldn't upgrade"

"You can't demonstrate why we need FTTP so we shouldn't upgrade"

"It's too expensive to upgrade"

"Only business' need it"

This is the type of thinking of Maria and co - if we had the same type of thinking back when they were building the copper network we would not have built it and we wouldn't have adsl today!

Only upgrading for business' is false economy when rolling out a network of this magnitude.

Either do the whole country or don't even bother and we fall further behind.

maria has never even heard of upload speed  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

and you need how much upload speed exactly ?

If you listen to these boofheads, everyone has to upload 2Gb files a few times a day... from home.

FOD is dead. Just not enough fibre to the Nodes. How many more times must simple fact be pointed out to you?

We need the benefits of ubiquitous, reliable, superfast FTTP.

and what happens in another 5 yrs? and 5 yrs after that? and after that?

anyone who advocates building the NBN based on todays usage is a bona fide idiot. (

You don’t have to pay anything. The original NBN was self funding, would have isssued bonds, paid them back from the revenue. Ironically, FTTN is unable to do that so you will be paying $100Bn. bwahahahahahahahaha

Easily.

All connections at all times?

Very doubtful seeing as FTTN can't guarantee speeds.

It's not 100 billion (unlike MTM) and isn't coming from taxpayers funds.

It was self funding, however thanks to your hero it doesn't earn enough revenue to be.

You've just shown how uninformed you actually are - this is basic nbn 101 stuff.

Self-funded???  If only!  Where do you think the $80B to build the thing was coming from?  And since absolutely no one except Conroy and you think it was going to be profitable, who was going to pick up the tab?

It seems like business funding is just another example of something you know nothing about.

It was NEVER self-funding. It was never going to be profitable and was certainly never going to be able to pay back the $80B+ capital investment.

More like $45Bn. MTM will exceed $100Bn.

As to revenue, the SR prepared by Turncoat’s cronies shows that FTTH revenue would be higher than that from the MTM. Have a look at the Strategic Review some time.
