The last costing of FTTH was $45Bn. The Strategic Review put the cost at $73Bn but it was admitted that number was just plucked from the air so $45Bn is still the estimate. With Project Fox technologies the cost will be less.

So the MTM is already dearer than 93% FTTH. As the obsolete FTTN rubbish is rolled out the copper remediation costs will just go up and up and up.

So $375m is needed to rerun the Optus HFC network. The Telstra HFC will also need considerable work.

Idiocy! Or worse.

Nonsense. Of course you can support that with facts like you usually do, right?

Yes, Longy, I can. Still waiting for you to do the same.

The second estimates committee on the NBN JB Rousselot admitted he had just made up that figure. You can look for the main NBN thread here or search for the hansard on aph.gov.au.

Knowing your penchant for lying, I will consider these claims to be pure lies unless you can provide proof to the contrary. Dont say it is here or there. SHOW ME THE PROOF.

I have given you the details. Can’t you do some simple searching? Really? And you are going to set up a big new  business???

You still haven't demonstrated why Australia shouldn't invest in FTTP.

All you seem to care about are your needs and not the needs of the country.

You haven't provided anything to backup your opinions or backup your figures either.

I gave him two places he can find the information.

I am not going to plough through all the voluminous stuff I posted or the Hansard because when I prove it Longy won’t admit he was wrong he will just ignore it.

The proof is here and in Hansard.

This topic proves the following right:

“Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.”
― George Carlin

Maria has nothing to backup her position, no figures, no data and like all conservatives think they are correct.

They don't want to see our country progress and pine for the "good old days".

It's very similar to the debate surrounding power and base load etc.

What the conservatives don't realise is that the coal fired power stations are at their end of life and like the copper network are costing more and more in maintenance.

We need to replace the copper network with something - we can either roll out more copper or upgrade it to fiber - like we did with ironwire to copper.

"Frontier Communications will have to invest at least $150 million over the next three years to increase broadband speeds in West Virginia as part of a settlement to lawsuit filed in 2014 by the state's Attorney General Patrick Morrissey."

This could be the nbn's future!

"By contrast, countries such as Australia, the U.K. and Germany remain stranded in the copper age," Vodafone said. "The focus of incumbents in those countries is on monetising outdated technology for their own ends, not meeting the 21st century needs of their customers."

In Australia the incumbent telco is not running out FTTN. The govt is. A crowning piece of stupidity!

You don't prove negatives. Your job - should you have the brains for it - is to support investment in FTTP and in particular, the residential side. I will grant the business side, but then most of them already have it anyhow.

Once and for all - please provide a link to support your opinion that most business' already have FTTP.

I work in the industry - most big business' do, however most small business do not!

You think you are right and yet won't provide any evidence to support your position - it's like playing chess with a pigeon.

You'll turn the board over, poo every where and think you've won.

The FTTP was last costed (2 years ago) at $90B+

How many pages has this gone on for? Maria was asked for proof a long long time ago  Cool

The only place that $90 billion figure appeared was in LNP election brochures - ie: total b.s!

You should read the reports put out by the NBN co Maria - the figures aren't anywhere near that.

Although they have revised the figures for FTTN upwards 3 times already with a 4th incoming.

The true cost will be around 80-90 billion if we do go with FTTN.

That supporting case has been made and accepted by every single liberal voter in the land!

Every single liberal voter is ashamed of copper internet for a reason: every single one knows it is  a waste of tax payers money Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
