Please point me to the generally available 1Gb ISP plan. I have no doubt big companies have it organised already and have so for some time - which is my point.  If you needed it you would already have it.

In South Korea a 1G Home plan costs $20 US a month, In China it is $25 a month, three years ago.

We are spending tens of billions in order to end up in ten years time at least 10 years behind where many countries were 5 years ago.

We are aiming to be at the low end of 2008 world standards in 2025 and it will cost us something like $90 B to get there.

I think we are all going to have to demand a level of proof from you. Not only does it seem unlikely, but it is also YOU - an inveterate liar.

I tend to back up most of what I have to say unlike you.

I posted a couple of clips yesterday showing internet standards at 2013. There is no argument that we are aiming at having a 25G system well into the future this is beyond argument, it is also well known that many countries have had well beyond that for some time. It is known that nobody is rolling out FTTN technology.

I find it difficult to find what it is that you could possibly disagree with.

You claimed China has 1G internet. Where exactly? Much of china outside of the cities is yet to get the telephone and sealed roads.

I think I will wait until there is an actual proposal on the table before getting all bent out of shape of a possible, maybe one-day perhaps sale.

There will be no FOD because there is insufficient fibre to the node.

And you overstate the benefits... as does everyone else.

The benefits I stated are all well supported. Find the main NBN thread, or go to aph.gov.au, and read the extensive Hansard extracts I posted there.

The real NBN would not have cost the taxpayer much at all, NBN Co would have raised funds. The multi tiers allow a bigger ARPU so the NBN would have paid for itself.

How will the NBN increase exports?

Because creative industries will be able to accept jobs then send the file off to the client without having to wait a week for the video of an ad or other content. Now we have people moving their business to NZ or other areas where the govt doesn’t handicap its economy!

We could also be selling other services, education say IF we could upload big data files quickly. ADSL, VDSL just do not cut the mustard!

There are companies, in the Murrumbidgie IA and other rural areas where even big producers cannot properly track their shipments past farm or factory gate. With a proper communications network they could track the shipments and look for more lucrative markets.

In the main NBN thread, back a ways, I posted extracts of Hansard of the Estimates Committee on the NBN. There was lots of testimony supporting all I have said. Rural areas, rural councils were among the most gung ho for the NBN! Hell, Barnaby and Nash, back when Howard was PM, designed something very similar to the NBN.

So the man on the land is one of the groups most let down by the bloody Libs and Nats!

The copper is clapped out and cannot help our

How is faster fibre supposed to help farmers?  Does it make crops grow faster? Rain more?  Will it improve seed quality?

Other than getting your porn faster, why do you want it?

Farmers that are on the NBN use it for all sort of things, tracking the movement of stock, monitoring ripeness, soil moisture monitoring etc.

They can also track movement of produce past the farm or factory gate, take advantage of price differences in different markets etc.

What waffle. How does internet 'monitor ripeness' or soil moisture?  Everything you wrote was nonsense - as is usually is.

You have no visions - being an LNP shill it's not surprising.

Sensors in the ground can send data back via the internet.

They could also analyse past data to work out what might happen in the future.

Talk about having no imagination

And you think farmers dont drive around their farms and keep rain guages and irrigation meters etc?  How did they ever grow food without the internet?

The point is that the NBN isnt necessary for farmers to become more productive. What bandwidth do you think is needed by a moisture sensor? 50Mb/s?

The point is the world is competitive.

Did they have sattelites directing farm machinery 50 years ago?

You do believe in market forces don't you?

NZ ditched FTTN for FTTP, so did Verizon and AT&T etc. Only WE are stupid enough to waste time and money on a mish mash of obsolete technology, over $100Bn before it is finished and THEN we will run out FTTH. CRAZY!

Having just spent 3 weeks in the country, Tianjin to Guilin & everything in between, as usual our asian neighbours are so far ahead of us technology wise it is pitiful.

Sure you are correct, some places have no phone or sealed roads, they would be the upper northern China on the border of Mongolia.

What waffle. How does internet 'monitor ripeness' or soil moisture?  Everything you wrote was nonsense - as is usually is.

EVERYTHING I wrote is straight out of the Hansard of the NBN committee as recorded here. I harp once again on the facts:

1. It was Sens Barnaby & Nash who first came up with a design very similar to the real NBN.

2. Rural councils were very gung ho about the real NBN, rural councils not slated to get FTTH were negotiating with NBN to contribute to the cost of bringing FTTH to their ratepayers.

3. Even big producers in the Murrumbidgee IA could not track their porduce past farm or factory gate.

4. The uses farmers are ALREADY putting their NBN connection to are as I described and are in the Hansard.

I am right and you are wrong and looking bloody silly keeping this argument going!

That is the point - it was perfectly appropriate to install 2007 technology in 2007.

We are aiming to have the same thing by about 2025.

There are fairy stories more realistic (and more entertaining) than your fantasy tale of an NBN that 'would not have cost much'.

There are simpletons who mock your level of intelligence and reasoning.

So they get internet that is highly censored and a lack of person freedom.  I'd rather live here and have dial-up before that.
