*Sure....they're anti competitive as any subsidised job is.  It wouldn't be there without the tax payer.  Very damned difficult for a brainwashed collectivist to understand that I know....  (swaggy) *

Those lucky people in the HFC areas getting those lovely 2" thick cables festooned in their leafy suburbs. Lucky lucky. The lucky people in the FTTN getting all of 5mbps unreliable broadband, how LUCKY is that?

(It would only be a conspiracy theory: as no soul is going to confirm a truth of skullduggery unless forced and even then the truth is only commensurate with the punishment and even then torture(as in jail i.e. banishment from society) is proven to not work towards getting the truth. Thugs are thugs until the end- no friends in the criminal world etc....)

THE ANSWER IS--->
To force aussies to bow to the boom bust cycle of mining.... that's why the baby boomers own houses: it's stability in an inhospitable investment environment.

THAT'S MY THESIS AND I'M STICKING TO IT: ...& I DARE ANY LIB TO ATTACK THAT AND NOT LOSE THE INTERNET BECAUSE I AM THAT F'N GOOD(PARDON THE FRENCH  Shocked ShockedCheesy

Cheesy Grin Smiley  Funny one deathray

Hmm had a big storm here yesterday arvo.  A one in 20 yr event ( Shocked)  Was fierce.  lost power 10.30 last night '' got it back this arvo at 3.15pm. Had a big feed on bacon, steak and eggs tonight .. will have to thro a bit of food out.

Saddest tho is I lost the top half of an ancient remnant Scribbly Bark that  was hollow and housed lots of critters. Also lost a dead gum that had a native bee nest in it. The winds were ferocious, and got 53mm +  ie more than 2 inches in just over 1 1/2 hrs.. it was wild.  Thing is the power didn't go out for 4 hrs after it had passed. The Energex authorites switched us off to fix a lot of damage. Funnily enoughm, friends of mine who live 3 kms away had no power loss and 35 mm ... it was quite something,  stinking hot still, storms today went further north so far.  I love our mother nature.. the storms usually miss me, BUT  you end up sharing the wear sooner or later . I have photos but not real good at sizing attachments.  The same thing I found when I first uploaded pics here, years ago. Some kind Forum poster sent me how to do it.. guess what.. I haven't looked at it yet.. still waiting for enough motivation,  oh and a new mother board.. Smiley Roll Eyes

Who would want you to post your dribble any quicker than what you are able to now? You need to be relegated back to 9600 baud to free up the Internet.

Sounds like a fair bit of rain.

I threw the moblie phone away ten years ago... and I've been saying that a few years now! Complete freedom it really is.

Mobile phones and dumb terminals are all about the workplace: there's no efficiency involved it's just the fascist boss following you home. If you need it for making money fair enough but that is not what people use it for. I don't read too many books but i hear you on the switching off and playing chess by candlelight type of old school conversation thing- stress is a killer and we all have our own methods of escaping the encroachment of technology.

Technology is, like anything, just a tool: "The heart is ephemeral and seeks to attach itself to things. Only the sword of wisdom can cut through the strings of Mara." (Mara being the illusion that is the material world!)

So a little birdy once told me anyway  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

That WAS a weather event.!!!  Smiley

I still had my homeline, which was operational.. but no power and no techy stuff.!!  I really couldn't care less, its just something else to deal with in this, the real world.
Roll Eyes

I'm with you there. Wouldn't be hooked-up.. but...oh well some things are too difficult to explain.

I live quite happily in this real world. I don't tweet or FACE or any of that other garbage. What a world.. the kids are welcome to it.!

I only have a computer and mobile phone because it was prudent about 10 yrs ago. I still like to have my mobile with me when I drive... an obvious security measure, and I use it to check the radar from BOM,, the progress of local storms a perfect example.  Otherwise..?  nah not something i NEED. Altho have some good photos on it. Not into 'selfies' Roll Eyes my Goodness me, when did people become so stupid.?
