Abbott hits the nail on the head again!
Dec 9th, 2015 at 5:39am

TONY Abbott has called for a religious revolution within Islam as he urges Australians to stop apologising for their Western values and culture.

Writing exclusively for The Daily Telegraph today — a week before the anniversary of the Sydney Lindt Cafe siege — the former prime minister warns of a “clash of civilisations” unless Islam undergoes a global reform.

In an article likely to invite controversy, Mr Abbott says Australia and the West can no longer live in denial about the “problem within Islam”, and that while most Muslims rejected terrorism, some were “all too ready to justify ‘death to the infidel’.”

“Islam needs to delegitimise the urge to ‘behead all those who insult the Prophet’ but only Muslims can do this,” Mr Abbott writes.

“Demonising Islam generally or all Muslims could bring on the ‘clash of civilisations’ that academic Samuel Huntington feared two decades back and make ‘Islam’s bloody borders’ even more dangerous.

“But we can’t remain in denial about the massive problem within Islam.

“Islam has never had its own version of the Reformation and the Enlightenment or a consequent acceptance of pluralism and the separation of church and state.”

Mr Abbott’s comments will be seen as reinforcing a growing number of Coalition MPs who have broken ranks with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and called on Muslim leaders to do more to counter violent extremism.

“Everyone interested in a safer world should reach out to ‘live and let live’ Muslims and encourage them to reclaim their faith from the zealots,” Mr Abbott writes.

“In Australia, that means talking to decent people who happen to be Muslim as well as to ‘official’ Muslims inclined to see ‘Islamophobia’ in any criticism.

“Surveys of British and French Muslims typically show up to 30 per cent sympathising with the aims if not the methods of Islamic State.

“Fortunately, there are numerous Muslim leaders who think their faith needs to modernise from the kill-or-be-killed milieu of the Prophet Mohammed.”

Praising US President Barack Obama for stepping up the military campaign against IS, Mr Abbott says it won’t be enough on its own.

“There also needs to be a concerted ‘hearts and minds’ campaign against the versions of Islam that make excuses for terrorists,” he writes.

Mr Abbott also warns of a cultural cringe preventing an honest debate about the issue and calls on Australians to proclaim the secular values on which the nation was built.

“It’s also time Australians stopped being apologetic about the values that have made our country as free, fair and prosperous as any on Earth,” Mr Abbott writes.

“It’s not culturally insensitive to demand loyalty to Australia ... we should be ready to proclaim the clear superiority of our culture to one that justifies killing people in the name of God.”

He has just reaffirmed his limited scope.

More waffle that would only serve to make things worse, the type of comment that ISIS would love to see.

The best way to push more recruits to ISIS and make it more dangerous in Australia.

How would it make things worse? Islam desperately needs to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. ISIS won't be defeated by military means alone. We need to make sure Muslims don't take up the radical branch of Islam that is causing so much death and destruction. We also need to stop top-toeing around Muslims with regard to our culture. They came here to live because of our culture. If we start hiding it for fear of offending others, then our society will turn to sh!t very quickly and unravel.

Too bad he didn't take over from Howard instead of Rudd taking over. Abbott was handed an impossible task of cleaning up the worst mess left behind by any government in history. Record debt, record deficit, high unemployment. Labor leaves nothing but carnage as its legacy every single time. Had he taken over from a competent government like Howards', he could've implemented the agenda he campaigned on and I think we'd have seen Tony re-elected with an even bigger majority.

I don't think an idiot who says he doesn't believe in gay marriage because of his religion, and who put together a policy specifically about religion (chaplaincy program) can talk about separation of church and state.

It's a shame that religious nut jobs like idiot Tony continuously muddy the debate.  Let us agnostics take care of this, and let the loony Christian worshippers stay awfully silent in the corner.

He is quite correct in many areas.  The Muslim world hasn't undergone enlightenment, and it's quite clear from the many religious states that value systems aren't shared.  Even indonesia, who is constantly used as an example of progressive Muslim country, went nuts over the death penalty.  That isn't politics - that's a society that has stemmed largely from a religious Muslim upbringing.

So, unfortunately, idiot has a point. And by unfortunately what I mean is it's a shame his hipocrisy has some merit.  I'd prefer we got rid of all religion, but while we can't because the loonies would cry too much, at the very least we need to have a conversation on how we can possibly assimilate people who do come from quite a vastly different view of the world.

More to the point, let them fix their own mess first. There is still ongoing fall out from decades of covered up child abuse on an horrendous scale - yet the stallwarts and protectors of the faith the abusers keep desperately pointing the finger outwards. Hardly apt judges of behaviour, character or morals...

I'd be interested on someone doing a proper study on this.

Ask Christians, 1st generation Muslims and 2nd generation Muslims the same values and tolerance questions. And let's do a test that can put to rest the question of how well people can assimilate based on their religious beliefs.

It's not a study by any stretch of the imagination, BUT, it gives some insight into that very question.....

At last he's come out of the closet on the national self-harm that immigrating Muslims means to Western nations - but all too late, of course, because he's no longer prime minister.

What the West needs are no-nonsense, no-political correctness prime ministers and presidents who while in office start openly dealing with the Islamic Menace that has arrived through decades of irresponsible and ignorant Muslim immigration programs.

Donald Trump is calling for an end to political correctness with regard to pretending not to notice the elephant-in-the-room.

Tony Abbott is now preaching to an international audience about the threat that Islam via Muslim immigration now poses for Western civilisation.

And the fact the Lefties are squealing like stuck pigs about this is proof positive that Trump and Abbott are on the right track.

I would have thought that as he is now writing for the 'tele', he and Marge and the Kids could afford a brand, spanking NEW fridge rather than buying secondhand on Gumtree.    As for his article, he has made another "Captains Call" on the race and religion of the day.  As a devout Christian, surely Abbott should concentrate on the problems within Christianity instead.
