......and wearing a burqa goes against everything this country stands for..
Every year, in Australia:
- skin cancers account for around 80% of all newly diagnosed cancers
- between 95 and 99% of skin cancers are caused by exposure to the sun
- GPs have over 1 million patient consultations per year for skin cancer
- the incidence of skin cancer is one of the highest in the world, two to three times the rates in Canada, the US and the UK.
Protect your skin
For best protection, we recommend a combination of sun protection measures:
- Slip on some sun-protective clothing – that covers as much skin as possible
What about the lack of Vitamin D caused by covering your skin up
10 minutes sun exposure per day is all one needs.
10 minutes per day for Australia hey??
How much sun do you need for vitamin D?
October to March**
10 minutes in mid-morning or mid-afternoon.
April, May, August and September**
15 minutes in mid-morning or mid-afternoon.
June and July**
Southern NSW (eg Sydney, Batemans Bay, Wagga Wagga): 30 to 40 minutes in the middle of the day.
Northern and far western NSW (eg Cape Byron, Armidale, Cobar): 20 to 25 minutes in mid-morning or mid-afternoon.
You even got the Australian figures wrong.
