Govt axes bulk bill. Pathology
Dec 17th, 2015 at 6:44am

The Liberals' Treasurer Glenn Morrison was trying his hardest to do the 'pea and thimble' trick with the Public. But guess what Glen, the Public are unformed these days.

You asked where the money can come from to try and help out the disastrous budget.

Well how about the unfunded billions you are spending on the Syrians. And I do mean billions!

The losers in this will be the people at the bottom of the totem poles those on limited incomes.

A Doctor representing the Medical Association said that many forms of cancer will not be detected now because of people's inability to make co payments.

If the Government want more money then they should pull their finger out about the Tax avoidance of Google, Apple, Microsoft and all the other 'big pals' of Malcolm Turnbull.

PS I know that a Senate enquiry has recommended reforms. How long do you think if will be before that happens.

Calculate what they should be paying and send them the bill in the mail ?

Not that difficult at all.

Maybe build a tax structure that charges a sliding base tax rate to companies operating in Australia based on their Australian sales or turn over.

Lets take Apple vs Ferrari

You have dealers importing Ferraris. The price is inflated with an import tax and this essentially how the government gets their cut.

The same can be said about the iPhone. Import duties apply

Apple has it's "own stores". But how do we know this is not a franchise agreement?

Franchise agreement is simply a fee payment to Apple in another jurisdiction. This is no different than someone paying a fee for goods and services to entities outside of Australia. Are we going to tax all these entities. How would you do it?

These companies are not Australian domiciled for tax purpose

The left standing up for pathologists who have corporate value of being multi millionaires and who supervise a massive battery of german pathology machines that do all the work, whilst they play golf and go sailing.

pathology costs are growing by 11 % per annum.

every pathologist is greedily buying more german machines to churn out the results and the profits.

the competition between pathology providers to get in on this gravy train is what is making them all bulk bill as it is just all pure profit once you buy the machines.

gillard introduced a scheme that paid 5 billion to these multi millionaires when they were already bulk billing 89 % of services.

what rot.

they arent going to start charging a co payment of 10 dollars and lose 500 dollars in income when the patient goes to the guy next door with the german pathology machine.

just a typical example of gillard waste and morrison is 100 % correct to rein in this corporate welfare

Make that irrelevant - they pay tax on profits made in Australia.

Make off shoring for tax purposes meaningless.

Stupid people never see the big picture.

Any industry funded by gov always has most expensive price and worst productivity.

$100 for a simple blood test, it only costs $10. Great deal for tax money.

You should how much the private US industry charges. One place in the us charged $10k for a cholesterol test, and many were in the $1k range.

And they don't pay tax in Aust because they don't make profit in Aust

So we are back to status quo

Apple made 6 billion dollars in profit in Australia last financial year on which they paid 1% tax.  How would you like that as your tax rate?

Last year Apple had $6B worth of turnover - not profit

Depending on how they set up their structure - $80M tax sounds about right

But did the government include any import tax and other charges

If comparing to the worst healthcare system in the developed world makes you happy during Christmas, then keep doing it.

My first comment seems very fit for you  Grin

I'm comparing it to a almost totally private system ... feel free to show another one if you like, I'm going to bet no matter which you choose to show it'll still be more expensive
