Lemmy and Stevie are Gone
Dec 29th, 2015 at 1:01pm

A couple of rock legends, who lived hard, have passed away.

......

I saw these guys play live many times back in the '80s.

Yeah, Greg, and it's only been a couple of weeks since Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor, also of Motorhead, booked off.

I didn't know Phil, but did know both Lemmy and Steve.  Still can't believe it.

A sad firkin day.

I did a little bit of work with Stevie, back in the '80s.

He played some gigs here in Perth as a solo artist (with an impressive backing band. Damn, what was the name of his guitarist?)

He was a sweet guy, but certainly no angel.

Heroin ruined his life.

I'm afraid so.

Cancer.

He only found out a couple of days ago.

And, talking of dead rock legends, here's another one doing a Stevie (Easybeats) cover:

Phil could suck bourbon like oxygen, Lemmy reckoned, while happily inhaling
his own bourbon, just before their concert in my town in '84, where I first met
Lemmy - he and the drummer were playing the pokies, so my brothers and I
as fans, wandered up for a chat.

We ended up polishing a couple of bottles of bourbon off together - before the
gig. And they were still brilliant, even pyssed, as they (and most of the audience)
certainly were!

Excellent!    Smiley

I remember that '84 tour.

They played here in Perth, at a pub called the Nookenburra, and it was the loudest gig I've ever been to.

I've been to (and played at) literally hundreds of pub gigs, and concerts, but nothing ever came close to being as loud as Motorhead (except maybe a Van Halen concert around the same time).

Man!, seeing Lemmy up front on stage was always a blast.

Bands today don't even come close to having what they had.

Back in my day ...  Wink

I am seriously surprised that Tweet from the fat personality vacuum Trunk didn't say 'Lemmy who had the privilege to meet me for the first time in some years ago has passed away at 70'.

RIP Lemmy. Interestingly his death was mentioned on all the national news shows this morning.

I'd forgotten he was a roadie for Hendrix!

As for The Easybeats dude. Never heard of him or them for that matter.

ahh m y grandson says the same when he hears about Elvis??... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes... never heard of him..

and yes they were sadly.. Stevie Wright lost it all....I think he was living in a car at one stage....

they were in their time... and when it faded so did they, some fade more than others.. but it shows how fleeting fame can be...

I'm surprised Lemmy made it to 70, there's not much that didn't go through his veins - then again Keith Richards is still alive....

*Sure....they're anti competitive as any subsidised job is.  It wouldn't be there without the tax payer.  Very damned difficult for a brainwashed collectivist to understand that I know....  (swaggy) *
