personally I resent being called a racist... just because I mention someones skin colour...or call them Middle Eastern...when I look in the newspaper I often see the word Australian describing someone....

is that racisim????.....

Nope.

Racism is unfairly discriminating against someone, based on their skin colour/race.

If you said "I saw a black dude walking down the street", that's not racist.

However, if you said "I saw a black dude walking down the street, so I immediately locked my doors and windows", that's racist.

Some of those black people, yes.

I've met black racists.

I've met white racists.

I've met (or seen) Chinese, Indian, German, Austrian (quite a lot in Austria, actually), Polish, American, Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, atheist racists.

Racists are everywhere.

First and foremost, my thoughts go to the family of the boy who was killed. Nobody else has said that yet, so let it be said. It's a sad state of affairs when a young lad can't have a night out without being attacked like this.

There are usually thugs like this in the Valley who are looking to pick a fight. I've seen it first hand, and I could easily have met a similar fate on one occasion. The mall seems to be where the thugs hang out late at night.  Somebody urgently needs to clean up the "garbage" there.

One of these two cowards said before the attack "Do you want to see something funny?"

"Something funny" will be what will almost certainly happen to them in prison.

I am trying to fix the last sentence of my previous post, but the forum is playing up.  Some of the worst racists are the Han Chinese of Singapore.

I must say, I'm always surprised by the amount of racism I see whenever I visit Austria.

And some of it is really nasty.

But, like I said, racists are everywhere and they come in all shapes and colours.

I don't need to go to Austria.

I only have to walk outside my front door.

It's making the unfair assumption that the black dude will try to break into your house.

Try to keep up, Wes.

I had a run in with an Maori about 4 months ago. I was doing work experience in a dementia ward and it bummed me out so much I decided to have a couple of beers on the way home. I was sitting at a pokie having a beer when I had a win and my money went up to $250. I had to go to the toilet so I pressed reserve . Unfortunately the reserve button wouldn't work. I thought "alright then, the toilet is just around the corner. I'll be 2 minutes". When I got back there was this big fat Maori with tattoos and a skinny white junkie looking cretin sheila about to walk off with my money (the ticket). I snatched my ticket out of her hand and the Maori went ballistic. You f@cking white punk, let's go blah blah blah. I stood my ground and the manager forced him out the door. Many Maori males are absolute scum.

Many people aren't even aware that they're racist.

Johari is a handy tool which explains awareness and perspective quite well.

Given your particular uni credentials Greg, I'm sure you're more than aware of the Johari Window.
