really good to hear QLD doing so well
Jan 18th, 2016 at 7:36am

http://www.news.com.au/news/qld-premiers-huge-salary-to-rise-again/news-story/7f...

Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg said the tribunal was right to take into account Queensland's "softening and weakening economic position" when deciding on the increase.
"We've got an independent remuneration tribunal that's clearly looked at the facts and indicated a pay rise that they believe is able to be delivered in worsening economic circumstances," Mr Springborg said.

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

it must be comforting for all those who are losing their jobs in the mining sector in Qld to know their very own Premier is earning more than quite a few P.Ministers... shes worth it though I am sure.

the tuck shop lady wont have as much time for parliament in a fortnight when school goes back.

i just checked her roster and she's doing uniform shop next week and then its back to making the salad rolls (a task befitting her intellect)

It's okay - she does it under close supervision.

funny how no one mentioned Western Australia  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

QLD and WA were mining dependent, with the decline in commodities, they are both going to suffer. The fact that WA was suffering long before the decline in commodities has probably escaped you all Cheesy Cheesy

Then boot her out and put that nice person  Springborg and his band of monkeys in.  Another sour thread from the jealous right.  I notice the LNP aren't marching in the streets protesting against her pay rise.  Wonder why?

from the same article:

"The former Liberal National Party set up an independent tribunal to oversee the process, after it came under fire for awarding MPs a generous pay rise in 2013.
Protests also met the new panel's decision in March 2014 to award senior politicians massive pay rises,
including a $67,000 top-up to then-premier Campbell Newman's salary, putting him on almost $380,000 a year."

You libs should stop pullin your pud and look at all things mentioned in an article - it makes you look silly when your own side is just as guilty as far as being in the politicians trough

I doubt anyone is getting value for money, but this system was put in place by the libs .... you sure didn't protest  much back then.   Cheesy Cheesy Or do you think Qlds economy was booming back then?

Qld is going to suffer worse than WA I am afraid. Iron ore prices will recover but not coal, hence the rush to open stupid coal mines like the one on the Liverpool plains. Dig it up and flog it off while it is still marginally profitable and never mind the longer term consequence, like a rooted formerly prime agricultural region.

Qld better hope they strike CSG in a big way. Or they could look to secondary and teritary industry: the Smart State, etc.

Just a quick question, if iron is going to recover and used to make steel and as every semi-literate child knows that coking coal is also used to make steel, why won't the QLD mines that supply 50% of the world'c coking coal recover?

Or are you hoping that every one reading this is as ignorant about this tiny but significant fact as you?

With wages growth at record lows they like the rest of us should be getting very little in the way of any rise.
