He claimed “Rosie Batty has been out there generalising” about men, and said a solution could be found in attacking poverty instead of demonising men.

so bloody wrong MARKIE... she was it called FAMILY VIOLENCE.....

you are the one turning it into an "us and them"....male v female... ..

as it happened HER HUSBAND WHO KILLED HIS SON VERY VIOLENTLY WAS A MAN.....

it wasnt Rosies fault....

if you think the end result... ususally DEATH... should be minimised because it doesn MEN no favours.just say so..

dont turn this into a feminist anti men campaign..

for someone who has I believe a record of VIOLENT behavior...

he should not ,be throwing stones...

if at any time we all need to be on the same page it is

I coudn't stand Latham- I even voted for John Howard over him just to keep him out, he was such a horrible man- It is a terrible tragedy for any man to do that to his own son and Luke's doting mother left in pieces like that- how do you go on and yet she is.

I haven't read the story ( will later) but who would lend any credence to anything that asshole had to say. ?

well said agnes.......he has had it in for Rosie for some time...

he doesnt want to talk about MALE VIOLENCE..like he is prone too..

or even the thugs that put other young men in comas....

no lets talk about the Australian of the Year making an issue because her husband who was sadly out of his mind.. Roll Eyes

.. [ probably because of Rosie]....killed her son almost in front of her....

how dare she!!!!!

lets not even mention all the women killed by their partners in recent years....waste of time ...not an issue at all..

I for one do not consider the campaign against family violence to be in any way an attack against men as Latham has categorized it....The issue is the lack of resources available to the victims of family violence and the complete failure of our legal system to deal with repeat violent offenders....Latham cannot see the main issue because he is only focused on how things reflect in his closed world!!!

the thing is phil.. ITS VIOLENCE.... violence of any kind should never be condoned....and this guy is more or less sneering as if these women are making it up....

his total disrespect of Rosie Batty is appalling this isnt the first time he has had a go at her... I wonder if he is suffering from a guilty conscience???????..and maybe doesnt like the attention Domestic Violence is getting...

he always was and is a bully as far as I am concerned....so maybe I am a bit biased in that regard..

However - as long as 'domestic violence' remains trapped in the paradigm "man offender - woman victim" - this issue will never be resolved for the simple reason that exertcising extreme sanctions and violent intrusion by legislation against primarily innocent men will only promote in those men a response to abuse and tyranny directed at them without reason.

Driving to town yesterday to secure temporary premises for the ex and I, I was complaining about how bureaucracy involved was running me around - the ex started in on me with personal attacks over this, saying it was my fault for being so late in coming to the party (the office is open three days for a few hours and you need all your info first), escalating in volume and tone while I was driving on the highway, and continuing on to threats of violence and then violence in the car. This is almost an exact repeat of what caused our break-up four years ago, with the exception that I had, then, just come home from heart surgery and was in immense pain. I've told her for years I do not wish to lead a life of stress and argument.. I'm not well enough to handle that.

Tell me again about how men are the offenders. Frankly, I've never hit a woman who hasn't attacked me first.. or anyone else for that matter.. in my life. I'm a person who retaliates to violence - I do not initiate it.
