"Up to 15 people die and more than 430 are admitted to hospital every day in Australia due to alcohol-related illnesses, new research shows."

"Proportion of deaths attributable to alcohol in 2010

"NT - 11.8 per cent"

In a time of universal deceit — telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

No evidence whatsoever it can be attributed to George Orwell or Eric Arthur Blair (in fact the same guy)

You're talking 'Abos' there.

What are the stats with Australians living a Western life-style as tax-paying workers who don't have the time to lounge around in the parks with flagons of cheap wine?

That's very encouraging - I thought it was a lot more than that.

Let me know the stats when you've found a reference source that deducts the Abos from it.

Sorry Herbie: the onus is on you to provide a link to support this racist claim: "You're talking 'Abos' there."

Still waiting.

Hell no.

Only for those drugs which are addictive, soul-destroying, and lose families their sister, brother, sons and daughters.

Those addicted to these Hard Drugs I would have treated as hospital patients.

So you would include alcohol and gambling then.

It's about percentages.

Addictive substances or amenities that are detrimental to only a small percentage of the users are no problem for licencing and taxing, but those substances which snare a great number into a living nightmare should remain banned.

But the numbers due to alcohol are far greater

But Herbert - you can't stop stupidity.

Look at the Abbos - if they can't get booze they sniff petrol -
they can't be helped -
there is nothing we can do for them.

Are you saying the Abos problems are genetic and not social Bobby?

It could be genetic - maybe they are closer cousins to the great Apes than we are?

Totally incorrect, and I'm giving you 4 demerit points for saying such a thing.

'The Devil makes use of idle hands' ... and therein lies part of the answer as to why so many indigenous Australians succumb to the obliterating effects of mind-altering drugs such as alcohol and inhalant drugs.

These drugs help to reduce feelings of boredom and anxiety, and embolden one in situations of social stress.

Poor self-esteem comes with comparing oneself negatively with others in society who seem to have made a success of themselves in various ways.

For aborigines the Road out of Despair for them is the long march through education and training so they can secure for themselves a position in the workforce from where they can build a good life for themselves and their families on an equal footing with the average person in society.
