Given the green light to enter Australia, by the Liberals.

Granted refugee status, by the Liberals.

Given Australian citizenship, by the Liberals.

Killed an innocent person, while the Liberals stood by and did nothing.

He wasn't on any watch lists. So why wouldn't Customs let him in?

Tiny_Pecca is angry a Liberal government let in an Iranian man who had broken no laws and was not on any watch lists. Cleary Tiny_Pecca would prefer we bar all people with olive skin from entering Australia just incase they commit a crime.

Monis was born in Borujerd, Iran on 19 May 1964.[11] He published a book of poetry, Inside and Out or Daroon va Boroon (Persian: درون و برون‎‎), in 1996 in Iran.[16][17] It did not sell well, which disappointed Monis. In the 1990s, Monis ran a company called Salhani Amal (Persian: صالحان عمل‎‎), which he used to buy discounted tyres from the Iranian government and re-sell them on the black market. He also ran a charity scam to avoid paying tax.[18]

In 2001, using the pseudonym Ayatollah Manteghi Boroujerdi,[11] he claimed in an interview with ABC Radio National's The Religion Report that he had been involved with the Iranian ministry of intelligence and security, and that his criticism of the regime and secret information he possessed had resulted in his persecution as well as the detention of his wife and children. During an ABC Radio interview, he claimed that his family's detention was a result of views the Iranian government believed to be "dangerously liberal".[19] David Ruteledge, the journalist who interviewed him, described his as "a little bit dramatic."[12]

Australia granted his request for political asylum that year.[20][21][22] He claimed that his request for asylum followed the detention of his wife and children by Iranian authorities after he espoused liberal views on Islam.[23] According to London-based Persian TV channel Manoto 1, he had fled Iran after taking US$200,000 of his customers' money in his tourism agency.

You seem to be going out of your way to make excuses for a murderer.

Why is that, exactly?

They asked for it. They want to pretend refugee claims are party political.

The refugee convention is bi-partisan. Anyone who comes to Australia and claims asylum (except by boat) will be processed as a refugee. If they're found to be genuine (and not a security risk) they'll be housed in the community.

All parties adhere to this policy. There is not one party in government which has an alternative. The Dept of Immigration processes the claims. The minister of immigration doesn't even need to see them.

Armchair and Baron are just having a bit of fun. Suggesting refugee claims are political is a real hoot. Mind you, this didn't stop the Attorney General keeping information on Manus from the public. Mr Abbott and Soapie Brandis wanted to play politics with refugees too.

It is a jolly world, no?

Don't know because they destroyed all their ID so we don't know who they are. You make this too easy.

It makes sense that you'd believe a Police chief whose service locks up political dissidents along with anyone who opposes the regime. I can't blame our authorities for not trusting the security services of that country given its deplorable human rights record. Can you?

Good to see you stand up for Monis' human rights, Armchair. You clearly support the refugee convention and Monis' entry to Australia.
