Indigenous Affairs Minister Nigel Scullion has criticised backbench MP Dennis Jensen over his speech likening remote Aboriginal community residents to "noble savages".
Key points:

Nigel Scullion says he does not support MP Dennis Jensen's 'noble savages' comments
Response comes after pressure from Labor, Greens
Labor calls for the PM to condemn the comments

Mr Jensen made the remark in the Lower House on Monday night, as part of a speech on the perils of sinking public money into remote communities.

Labor and the Greens have been calling on Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and the Indigenous Affairs Minister to publicly condemn the comments.

Questions were put to Mr Turnbull and Senator Scullion's offices yesterday, with no official response.
