I'm in the flight path of passenger planes leaving Sydney, and so what this means is that I have a credible observation point for comparing the size of the planes going overhead.

And I'm here to tell youse Doubting Thomases that the A380 Airbus does NOT have the Wow! factor in comparison to the size of the other 4x engine aircraft when cruising overhead.

And those seat armrests ... heads should roll.

Dear O dear O dear .... and Christ wept for these passengers ... The fighting over the middle armrest is an absolute money-back-guarantee by the evil swine who designed it like this.

I can just imagine two of Aquascoot's Alpha stallions going at it during the entire trip.

all I worry about on  a plane is not having me knees under my chin...or the person in fronts head on my lap.. and somehow that always seem to b e the case... Angry Angry Angry Angry

its time when selling a ticket they gave you the exact measurements of your space .. that you are paying for..... for people over 6 feet tall it must be pure hell.

It certainly is , sitting in a seat that was comfort tested by a 5ft midget with scoliosis is trying, then you have the person in front recline as well  Smiley, 7hrs even with temazipam is my limit.

absolutely..... travel is beyond me now....and they havent built the plane that would suit me....YET

I flew back from London last year... cattle class of course..dont ask what plane ... it was big...Qantas..it was hell on earth... they even served warm water.. I sent it back so bloody disgusted...we came down in Dubai... do not be fooled people... its a con.... they debate whether you will get off... but of course they insist you do..hot as hell parched with thirst..the time you are off is just long enough to go through duty free...[ha.ha.] nothing is free...we all bought bottles ofCOLD water dying of thirst as I said...we were then shuttled back towards the plane but had to go through the pretend passport.check where they promptly took our bottles of water we had just paid for....no bottles allowed.......he popped them under his table to be returned and re sold we presumed....what a con.. we were back on board in  under an hour...from then on it was 12 hours of knowing what a pig feels like when it is placed in a pen fit for a squirrel.. the bloke in front had his seat back as far for the whole trip...to get out of the seat [aisle] which means more than once... armrest up.. turn to side if legs still work...stand up breath in as far as possible while people climb over each other ... I would try and stand up until they returned....at one stage a toilet was out of action.. so most had to go to the end of the plane after upsetting a cranky hostie...

these planes are damn right cruel....horse wouldnt be treated like passengers are...

btw the toilets are awful....scary in fact.I hated them......

I would have to exercise supreme patience and divine tolerance if I ever travelled on a plane.

I would not be quietly compliant with some pig using my elbow room or leaning back into me. Whether it's up in a plane or down here on terra firma selfish inconsideration by others has me seeing red every time.

If I ever DID take a plane I would make damn sure to pay the extra that gives you more seating room, armrests, leg-room, pork products on the menu.

I would bring my own headset too.

Ah yes.  I was caught out by that at Dubai, once.

Only once, though.

I think I prefer Doha airport now.

I like the hopping off plane part , can breathe a bit of fresh air and stretch the limbs a bit , i can fully understand why people lose their poo on planes , you want ever see me on any long haul flight unless they heavily sedate me first , never flown business so not sure if it would be any different , i did see on emirates first class they get beds and they pump proper oxygen in to their cabin , just gotta justify 50k for a ticket  Sad

It has one very stupid design flaw with respect to passenger comfort.

Lord Herbert wrote on Mar 14th, 2016 at 8:11pm:
My question is: After all the YEARS during which armrests on planes have been a contentious issue between passengers, why didn't the idíots who designed the seating on the A380 not resolve this problem using simple, plain commonsense?

Dear o dear o dear
You really do know how to make a fool of yourself Herb

So this "design fault" on the A380 is actually the exact same design that is on every other plane in the sky. You also feel disappointed by the size of the A380.

So why have you felt the need to single out the A380? Is it because the A380 is built cooperatively by a number of European countries and this clashes with your own political agenda of being anti EU?

The A380 isn't all that bad.

The flight from Perth to Dubai is about 11 hours, and it isn't as bad as it sounds.

The worst part, for me, is the stopover at Dubai (or Doha) airport.

The A380 was designed at a time when passenger jet armrest space has been a bone-of-contention with passengers for several decades prior to this new plane coming off the factory floor.

That they didn't take the opportunity to correct this design fault is a black mark against them. They had the money, the time, and the motivation to make the adjustment - but instead they said "she''l be 'right, mate!".

Laziness, incompetence, and settling for Third Rate doesn't win them any bouquets from all the passengers down through the decades who have suffered from cramped elbow room.

See the above. They've had ample time to correct this fault.

One skinny armrest between the passengers does not speak of optimal comfort.

I can't say that I've ever heard anyone complain about the armrests.

They've never bothered me, that's for sure.

It's also the worst part for the poor sand-bunny toilet janitor at the Doha airport who has to try to flush your floaters down the bowl. You should leave a heavy tip with him every time you make that stop.

I may have been on a 330 from KL in 2010 , was an Air Asia plane that looked newer , cant recollect it being any different as far as comfort goes though .

I've found with the A380 that it's easier to get up out of your seat and move around the cabin.

More room, in all three dimensions.

Not a huge amount, but enough to make a difference.

I always use the A380 now (where possible).
