If they're being  assessed for home detention it means everyone is on board with that as the likely outcome.

No, it doesn't.

Why continue to lie?

They might get home detention, they might not.

Your thread title is a lie, and then you continued to lie in the OP.

Then, you cheapen the subject even further by turning it into an excuse for gambling.

As it stands, they "have been sentenced to a maximum 15 months' imprisonment."

If the situation changes (as it may), by all means post updates.

Starting a thread based on lies only makes you look foolish, and puts you in company with the likes of Herbie, Longy, and Armpit.

That's not the sort of crowd you want to be seen with.

You're more outraged about my thread title than FGM. Interesting.

There you go again: more lies.

You should really quit while you're behind.

My very first words in this thread (which is based on a lie) were:

"Nasty business, that I don't condone in any way."

My very first comment.

So, to summarise:

- thread tile is inaccurate;
- text in the OP is inaccurate;
- you're more concerned with winning a bet, than rectifying the mistakes;
- when called out on it, you tell another lie.

Well, at least I know what I'm dealing with here.

If I could be fkd I'd ad up how many words you've devoted towards lambasting my thread title vs discussing the actual issue. 20 to 1?

Improve GordyL's spelling? "Detantion" really?

How bizarre!

It needs to be lambasted.

You lied.

Moreover, it wasn't just the title: you also lied in the OP.

You've devoted a lot of effort into critiquing my syntax as apposed to the actual issue.

So, what do you feel would be an appropriate sentence?

Did you bother to read the SBS article ?

NSW Supreme Court Justice Peter Johnson has referred the three to be assessed for home detention.

Do you think this is a strong indication of what the result will be?

Absolutely.

The result will be an assessment for home detention.

Thus far, they have not been given home detention - they have been given prison sentences.

Therefore, your thread title and OP are inaccurate.  Lies, if you will.

Or a a foregone conclusion?

Do you think a custodial sentence is more appropriate than HD?

I told you to read all of my posts.

"I don't see that home detention would be effective, in the case of the midwife."

Seeing that she has already been given a custodial sentence, it's quite clear that's what I think is more appropriate.

It worries me that you couldn't figure that out for yourself.

My bad, in my head I was going to ask you WHAT do you feel is an appropriate custodial sentence.

Had it been their lawyer 'suggesting' HD I'd not have posted as such, but it was the judge.

When a JUDGE recommends HD, do you not think this is the most likely outcome?

Pecca .. really?

You're truly an over dramatic pedantic

Home detention vs may not spend a day behind bars

same same

discuss the issue of FGM & whether or not it deserves a mandatory jail sentence

IMHO home detention is a waste of time

all parties involved deserve jail time

It's serious and warrants more than a p1ssy slap on the wrist with HD

TOO scared to deal with the issue as it should be because of PC.

If it's illegal prosecute it as it should be & that includes
the judicial sentencing

Truth in sentencing.

Of course.  But, in far too many cases, the only truth some will accept is their version of it.
