Pointless to try and reason with the lib supporters.  This is for the undecided folks.

http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2015/09/08/inside-the-fight-over-productivity-and...

I picked the country that the libs most want to emulate.  There is no problem asking for better conditions when economic conditions improve.  There is also no problem asking for better conditions when economic conditions haven't when previous EBAs did not adequately address problems on the last economic climate.

Eg.  If economic conditions were 10% better and workers only got from that 2%.  When the economic conditions drop to say 5%.  There should have been no problems asking for more than 5% since they are still playing catch up.

In fact, every time lab government is voted in, they have to play catch up on public infrastructure (health, education, etc) which the libs have cut to call it a saving.  Sorry - that is not a saving.  People eating less to the point of starvation is not "saving" money.  Not hiring more people or building more facilities to take into account of increased population is not saving.

so your logic is that if my business is making a bigger profit then the employees should be paid more?  what about when it makes a loss? do I send them a bill?

Workers have in the past negotiated lower.
This is Australia, not America.  We will not end up like America with its working poor, low minimum wages, poor healthcare system, etc, etc.  We will not.

in extreme rarity.  BTW the govt is 'making a loss'. why arent he PS unions offering a pay cut to save jobs?

I think the PS workers are waiting for the politicians to take the lead first.

A 'deficit' is a loss.....

You blame PS employees because the Liberal government keep spending too much ?

I'm not blaming anything on anybody Jimbo.

Just saying that a deficit is a loss.

Businesses have profits or losses.  Associations / Governments (which are just Assoiciations) have Surpluses or Deficits.

If the budget is in deficit, the Govt is losing money.

A deficit is an excess of expenditure over income in a specified time frame.

So is a loss.

Now if you think this is wrong......back it up.

What you are forget swaggie is that a government budget is not the same as a business or household budget.

It is good when the government runs deficit because it puts money into the economy and makes the economy grow.Take money out of the economy and it doesn't grow

no, you're not a genius. That's obvious every time you open your mouth.
The govt. doesn't make a profit or a loss. If you spend $500 on your credit card because you've spent all your cash, are you making a loss? Calling it a loss is a tactic of the libs who wrongly think govt. is there to make a profit.

He's not alone: most Libtards don't understand that simple fact.

Just another reason why they can't be trusted in government.

Did I say anything about it being good or bad?

Budget deficits can be good and they can be bad.  Depends upon sustainability / serviceability / debt to wealth / cost to benefit / levels of productivity etc etc.

Piling up unsustainable debt has not been good for Greece, Spain the USA.  Just future tax increases for everyone's kids and grandkids mostly.

Buying a standard of living.  We are no different with our penalty rates and anti-competitive industrial relations policies.

In the past productivity levels meant Aust used to be able to afford to buy its standard of living with debt.  Now it doesn't and the population is aging, and brain dead leftists are ignorant to all this... Undecided

That said, Governments are indeed different to households and businesses, that's very perceptive of you,  But at the end of the day, a 'deficit' is still a 'loss'.  An excess of expenses to revenue.
