As far as I can see there is nothing in the article about him having a history of stealing cars (I'm not saying he doesn't have such a history, just that it's not in the article). The reference to him being charged with theft of a vehicle was because when the Police caught him, he was driving the ambulance.

Aboriginal people commit crime out of all proportion to their numbers. Of course its relevant. Its like saying the fact that young people overdose on drugs means we should ignore the fact they are young. Its a determining factor, just like Aboriginality is in regards to crime.
