Pakistan honour killings on the rise
Apr 3rd, 2016 at 2:52pm

I fully understand honour killings are cross cultural and probably existed in all cultures in some time throughout history.
see link http://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/rp-pr/cj-jp/fv-vf/hk-ch/p3.html

But lets talk 2016, this is a bit of a worry eh?

In February, Punjab, the country's largest province, passed a landmark law criminalising all forms of violence against women.

However, more than 30 religious groups, including all the mainstream Islamic political parties, have threatened to launch protests if the law is not repealed.

These are the 'mainstream' Muslims who are not trying to kill us. Hooray.

There is nothing honorable in killing or beating someone weaker than yourself.

But the fact that this is seen as honorable by a religious group is abhorrent.

Sad, Sick religion.

But, if one removes the deluded sociopath rantings of Mohamed, its really not all that different from the christian and Jewish religions.

God must be crying that so many have twisted his words to create such a sad pathetic world.

I'd never tell someone to stop being Muslim.
I think the answer is to be less Muslim.

Funny - the evidence seem to suggest that being more muslim is a good solution:

Quote:
In fact, the authors note that frequent mosque attendance “is linked with higher levels of civic engagement. Muslims who regularly attend mosques are more likely to work with their neighbors to solve community problems” as well as to vote.

According to the survey, “Muslims who say their faith is important to their identity are more likely to say being American is important to how they think of themselves than those who express a weak religious identity.”

It turns out that attending a mosque in the United States, like attending a church, actually seems to have a moderating influence on people’s behavior.

Oh gosh what a silly question.
Short of some pretty major medical procedures asking them to stop being Pakistani would be difficult.

I would however ask them to perhaps leave behind the worst aspects of Pakistani culture.

That pakistani culture you ask them to leave behind has shaped their very being.  How can they be expected to leave their selves behind?

I just can't imagine where you'd even start with attitudes like this.

A gang rape case in Pakistan has been allegedly settled for 30 maunds of wheat by local elders, highlighting the grave travesty of justice in the country.

If you refuse it, you are banished

The man said that after he refused to accept the compensation he was forced to leave the area with his family. He alleged that since local media highlighted the issue, local elites have been threatening him to keep mum and withdraw the case, the report said.
