Self Pity/Abuse Victims

I agree with Fry.  Get over it ~ grow up, stop using it as a crutch.  It is, as Fry says, a very destructive emotion.

Fry is not saying "get over it", "grow up" or "stop using it as a crutch" He is not being so insensitive.

Did you read what he actually said?

He's saying great works of art should not be censored because they involve taboo or difficult subjects.

He's saying self pity is destructive, yes, true ... not the rest of what you have added.

You don;t tell a victim to "get over it". Or to "grow up". Jesus.

I would argue that a suicide attempt as a result of clinical depression doesn't really qualify as self-pity.

He didn't use it in reference to abuse victims though, as you did. He said it to people wallowing in self pity.

Different animal.

I've had you on here announcing your rape Mothra. So tell me Mothra, are people allowed to feel sorry and bad for being abused? Should they just suck it up?

Of course they are. And there is a fair to reasonable chance they will suffer from long term mental health problems as a result.

That's not self pity though.

Jesus Hammer. Did you actually read what i typed?

How does this old queen determine if some poor molestation victim is feeling sorry for themselves?

He's speaking specifically to people who want to ban great works of art because they include sensitive subjects.

Did you actually read the article?

Yes I did. He said this- “It’s a great shame that your uncle touched you in that nasty place — you get some of my sympathy — but your self pity gets none of my sympathy.” Undecided

And you agree with him. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin If Fry was a rightie you wouldn't. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
