Greens want to bring Europe's problems here

Refugee intake to surge under Greens plan

THE number of asylum seekers resettled in Australia would rise dramatically under a new Greens proposal.

Under the plan, to be launched today, 40,000 asylum seekers would be resettled on humanitarian grounds every year - an increase by about 26,000 taken in by Australia in 2014-15.

A further 10,000 would be taken in as part of a skills program, while offshore detention facilities on Manus Island and Nauru would be shut.

“Australia doesn’t need to respond to people seeking our protection by turning our backs or locking them up,” Greens leader Richard Di Natale said in a statement.

Greens immigration spokesperson Sarah Hanson-Young said closing offshore detention facilities enabled the program to be “cost-neutral”.

“Closing down Manus and Nauru would save almost $3 billion dollars,” she told Sky News on Saturday.

“That is an awful lot of money to keep 2000 people - men, women and children - detained on those island camps.”

Labor has expressed concern with the policy, saying it could lead to an opening of seaways.

Federal Opposition Leader Bill Shorten said a clear message had to be sent to people smugglers against sending people to Australia by boat.

“There is no compassion in rewarding people smugglers and their business model to entice vulnerable people onto unsafe boats, then they drown at sea,” he said.

The idiot Greens just don't get it and won't be happy until we have riots here caused by these border crashers like those that we have seen in Europe.

To the idiot right: can you finally admit what this thread exposes, being your xenophobic pathetic little views?  It was never about people drowning, was it.

To the greens: how will security measures be improved to ensure it is reformist and moderate Muslims that become part of the community?

My My!!  Such vindictiveness against the Greens!  I thought you Coalition guys would be in bed with a Green as soon as you could!  After all, your Government went crawling to them to pass legislation in the Senate because it didn't have the negotiating skills to talk to others and get it passed with consensus.

The Greens are a scabby party who will lay with any party in order to progress their agendas.   At the moment, they are bottoming for the Coalition - and Mal and Co seem to like it.

I've no problem with us accepting refugees - genuine refugees. But we have to be able to house them, feed them, school the children and so on. It's not as simple as getting 40,000 here and that's it. Where would they live? Where would the money come from for the Centrelink payments to cover 40,000 new welfare recipients? Sarah Sea Patrol claims shutting offshore detention would save $3bn. First of all, it wouldn't - not even close. The majority of money spent on border security is in patrolling our northern waters via the Navy and Customs and RAAF flights by Orion & Wedgetail aircraft. Any savings found in closing offshore detention would be obliterated in welfare payments to 40,000 new mouths to feed without jobs or houses to put them in.

Coalition deal with Greens paves way for double dissolution election
Government expected to accept Senate voting reforms deal which gives Malcolm Turnbull the option of calling a double dissolution election from 1 July

[

Mr Albanese, a leader of the ALP’s Left faction, today alleged the Liberals were preparing to direct preferences to the Greens in the progressive, inner-city seats of Grayndler, Sydney, Melbourne, Batman and Wills at this year’s election.

In exchange, he said, the Greens had agreed to aid the Coalition by not directing preferences to Labor in seven marginal outer-suburban and regional seats in Victoria and NSW.

“Supporters (of the Greens) would be horrified at the idea that they are consciously going to assist in the re-election of the Turnbull government if they proceed with this deal.

The Senate has descended into uproar on the final sitting day of the year after the
Greens reached a deal with the Turnbull government
to partially reinstate tax transparency measures, prompting Labor senators to accuse the party of “selling out” its progressive base.

The Liberal backbencher Cory Bernardi also vowed to oppose his government’s deal on the basis that it contradicted “the express will of the Coalition party room”.

Significant donors and big government contractors are among companies revealed on a list exempting them from reporting financial details to Asic

The Greens defended the last-minute deal as a win for outcomes over protesting from the sidelines, but the Labor senator Doug Cameron disputed suggestions the party was “on the side of the angels”.

You’re on the side of Lucifer on this one, you’re definitely on the side of the forces of evil,” Cameron thundered to the Greens. “I don’t think lickspittle goes far enough describing what you’ve done.”

So now it's a question of economics as opposed to "Europes problem?"  Can you work out what you believe in and your argument because it sounds like you have no idea and you can no longer hide your xenophobia.

40,000 refugees on welfare is around 500 million dollars, not including administrative costs which won't add to 2.5 billion.

How do we house them? Simple, reduce 457 intake by 40,000.  Unless you think only unskilled are displaced.

No, the only question is of assimilation and integration.  But on that the greens have no clue.

Yep, armpit is the worst because he doesn't even know what he's arguing anymore in his attempts to disguise his actual views. On one hand it's about riots on the street by border crashes.  Now he supports refugees but believes we can't house them.

Basically he is so pathetic he had no idea what the hell he actually says.
