I come out of it alright but i'm disappointed there wasn't more help for the lower end of town.

Not liberal voters i suppose.

A raise in the age pension is well overdue, as well as a lift in Newstart.

Is the dole still $244 per week?

I don't know exactly Bobby but it's around that.

I've got alot of clients on Centrelink benefits. They are simply not making ends meet.

Wow - I better not lose my job - I'll be stuffed.

Malcolm has deserted us.

Hope you don't Bobby. The job market is fierce.

Centrelink benefits are not enough to look after a dog, once you take out rent and utilities.

I don't pay rent - I have a mortgage but it's still scary.
I'd have to redraw on the mortgage to afford my bread & butter.

And with a mortgage you wouldn't get rent assistance.

Hold onto your job, Bobby.

I will definitely hold on to my job.
If all goes well I'll have the mortgage paid off in 3 to 4 years.

Dear Ian,
You probably pay more tax than I earn.

Well done - you're helping the needy.

Debt levels are now higher than under the previous ALP Rudd-Gillard_Rudd Govts.

The budget emergency is worse thanks to the coalition mob

Yet the defect is now considerably higher than when the ALP were in power.

Just got this via email from Chris Burke....the ALP immediate response:

The difference between Labor and Liberal could not be more stark tonight — we'll put people first, while the 2016 budget has shown the Liberal Party will look after high income earners and multinationals.

So here’s what I’ve learnt tonight so far.

This budget fails to set Australia up for the future — by cutting services, cutting infrastructure, cutting skills and education. In the budget tonight:

An extended GP Tax by stealth
    Cuts to schools
    Cuts to Medicare
Cuts to families and pensioners that will increase the cost of living
    Cuts to higher education
    Tax cuts for multinationals
    Cuts to veterans’ hospitals

But of everyone, Australian families are the biggest losers tonight:

Individuals who earn the most will get a double tax cut – someone on $1,000,000 will get a $16,715 tax cut tonight while three quarters of Australian taxpayers receive absolutely nothing.
A couple with a single income of $65,000 with three children in primary school are $3,034 worse off a year – and receive no tax cuts.
A single mother with an income of $87,000 with two children in high school is $4,463 worse off per year as a result of tonight’s budget.

Finally, the Liberals have done very little about repairing the budget:

Tonight’s budget forecasts higher taxes than at any time while Labor was in government.
It confirms the Government has lost control of the deficit – it has tripled the deficit in three years, while debt continues to grow.
At the same time, the budget confirms unnecessary spending, including the Government’s new $1,000 baby bonus.

Or national Govt. debt  is now over $450 billion.

more than twice what Rudd & Gillard racked up.

Whoops, missed that bit. I wasn't expecting evolution from the Mechanic.

I'll add my congratulations to yours. Good to see.
