I doubt that Mr Mechanic.  If Tony Burke can get that to me within an hour or so of the Budget Speech, given Shorten has two days to prepare his response, I reckon Morriscum is about to have a new one torn.

Turnbull forgot about the people on the dole living well below the poverty line.
I don't know how they can exist.
It's a thought too horrible to comprehend.

AND the pensioners and single parents.

If a pensioner owns their own house they can just survive but I bet they
have a heart attack when the rate bill arrives!

pay em by direct debit I do.. it dont hurt a bit..

pensioners want their rubbish picked up like everyone else bobs...and most I know dont whinge about it...because we are used to paying.. its the newer generations that complain endlessly about PAYING for things...and want it for FREE... not us oldies...

But a $3,600 annual rate bill would be $69.23  a week out of your savings.

For those of you who didn't like the budget -

one day you will learn to love Big Brother.

DAVID BOWIE LYRICS
"1984"

Someday they won't let you, so now you must agree
The times they are a-telling,
and the changing isn't free
You've read it in the tea leaves, and the tracks are on TV
Beware the savage jaw
Of 1984

They'll split your pretty cranium, and fill it full of air
And tell that you're eighty, but brother, you won't care
You'll be shooting up on anything, tomorrow's never there
Beware the savage jaw
Of 1984

[CHORUS]
Come see, come see, remember me?

We played out an all night movie role

You said it would last, but I guess we enrolled

In 1984 (who could ask for more)
1984 (who could ask for mor-or-or-or-ore)
(Mor-or-or-or-ore)

I'm looking for a vehicle, I'm looking for a ride
I'm looking for a party, I'm looking for a side

I'm looking for the treason that I knew in '65

Beware the savage jaw
Of 1984

they must live in millionaires row.....as pensioners rates are reduced..... and if thats what you have to pay then thats what you have to pay.....

if they had to climb a heap of stairs to get to their bedroom they would downsize...

rates are not the only thing pensioners HAVE to pay for..

No - that's an ordinary house in Springvale - way away from the
top suburbs of Melbourne.
Actually - it's not a pensioner - it's someone who can't work
because they injured their back at work &
have received no DSP & no compensation.
They are living by redrawing on their mortgage.

Very true.

My mum, my aunts and uncles....are all baby boomers.

They never complain, they get on with it.

We Gen X, Gen Y etc never stop whining and complaining.

It's typical of spoiled brats.

•      An innovation and science programme for start-up businesses;

•      A defence plan for local hi-tech manufacturing and technology;

•      Export trade deals to generate new business opportunities;

•      Tax cuts and incentives for small business and hard working families;

•      A sustainable budget with crackdowns on tax avoidance and loopholes; and

•      Guaranteed funding for health, education and roads.

He's not on the DSP.

He gets nothing.
He's slowly losing his house by redrawing on his mortgage to live.

You have to be like Christopher Reeve - sucking out of a straw
while in a wheel chair to get the DSP now.

Seriously Bobby, your thread title.
What about Did the country get anything?
Is it always about me, my pocket?
Isn't that where we're going wrong with who we elect?

The title of this thread is most revealing.
Did you get anything? Wink

I would hope what most people "got" is a chance to approach our great country with a "spirit of contribution".

Personally, i got a new bill to pay  on my high income super contributions Cheesy Cheesy.

This is not a problem.

Everything good we create will be attacked and there is a cost to defending it.

I thought scott produced a fairly good budget and , now, undoubtedly, malcolm will win the next election.

But there is still this terrible "neediness" in the australian population.

A neediness to blame the government, big business, the banks, the military industrial complex, bad luck, their boss...for their own failures in life.
they always leave one thing off their lists...themselves.

Everyone born in australia or migrating to australia has a SUPER ABUNDANCE of resources...more resources then any people that have ever lived.
They should drop to their knees and weep with gratitude every morning.

If you arent doing well in australia, it is not due to lack of resources, it is due to your own lack of resourcefulness.
No government can give this to you and anyone who would look to the government to solve any of their problems has a deeply flawed narrative.
they are truly lost  Cheesy Cheesy

Pork barreling for the mates again?  Where is the innovation and where is the science in starting up a small business?

•      A defence plan for local hi-tech manufacturing and technology;
Built with what remaining industrial infrastructure?

•      Export trade deals to generate new business opportunities;
For ten cattle growers in the NT?

•      Tax cuts and incentives for small business and hard working families;
and for big business, and all families are hard-working so those under the mythical $80k are just leaners it seems

•      A sustainable budget with crackdowns on tax avoidance and loopholes; and
Promise to hunt down multi-nationals - talk's cheap.  All the major loop-holes for business remain

•      Guaranteed funding for health, education and roads.
Healthcare rebates frozen, meaning steady rise in cost to the end user, education has been chopped and not restored..... what?  More 'private' roads so we can pay double and treble?

whats Bill got except a Black Hole?
Nobody knows yet until he gives it all out... but I can't see that tobacco excise will be the big saviour
