Not carrying out a summary execution.

Good thing that in this case no summary execution was carried out.

It was a prime example of a summary execution.

That is, "an execution in which a person is accused of a crime and immediately killed without benefit of a full and fair trial."

You know, the sort of thing a terrorist would do.

So you believe that enemy combatants are not to be killed in a war, but arrested and given a trial?

Sh1t, it would have taken 300 years to finish World War 2, if you were right, luckily and as usual you are not.

In a war or war like activities, enemy combatants can be just killed according to the rules of engagement and he was, Numpty

It's gotta sting trying to find a way out of looking this friggin stupid.

If he was labeled as an enemy combatant and designated as a target and the word assassination was not used, would this thread be going around and around in circles?

Labeled by who? Nobody is prepared to confess to being the judge and jury that issues death warrants.

This can't be done from hiding and those who perform such acts should be liable for the consequences of wrongful death if they act negligently.

Governments are afraid to formally create the death panels that condemn suspected terrorists.

Also bear in mind that about 97% of those held in Guantanamo were not charged with any offence. They were apprehended arbitrarily and held without access to justice.

This was a summary execution.

An assassination.

The sort of thing a terrorist would do.

When we do it, you say it's all good.

When they do it, you say it's terrorism.

Do you understand what a massive hypocrite that makes you?

I don't support summary executions, by anyone.

You could learn a thing or two from me.

If one examines the history of detainees on Guantanamo one has to question USA's judgement.

Firstly there is the principle of Guantanamo itself. USA did not want to hold the prisoners in USA because the USA justice system could be used by the prisoners. This is a violation of people's rights because in Guantanamo they have no rights.

Secondly of 779 detainees held in Guantanamo only 8 were found guilty by USA military tribunal of any offence, and 4 of those were overturned. Nine have died in custody. Some in mysterious circumstances which cause suspicion of excessive torture gone wrong.

So out of 779 prisoners only 4 (0.51%) have been found guilty by military tribunal.

So the question of USA's judgement in the detention of foreign people is faulty and if the same reasoning is used to select death targets for drones then it is likely that 99% of those killed are innocent. This is why USA does not want to formalize a death panel with identity of death panel members known to the public. They want to keep on killing people with impunity.

If people threaten or attack you, you deal harshly and quickly with them.

We should expect the same from the either side.
