Dear Yadda,

do you agree:

"Some souls have turned so far from God that pain is the only way to call them back."

bobby,

Some people respond well to correction.

And some people do not respond well to correction.

Take me.

I can be a very determined and persistent person.

But i'm not a glutton for punishment.

bobby,

Our mind, is a logic machine.    !!!!

But many men [and women] only use logic, and will only purpose their mind, to continually pursue that [or 'things'] which are going to sate their immediate desire.

Coz, quite naturally, we want pleasure!

bobby,

We are supposed to be smart enough to choose, to [eventually] stop chasing sensual gratification.

And to start 'working things out'.

But some people only want to [continue to] follow that path which promises them more pleasure.

Psalms 111:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

But dear Yadda,

ye doth continue to walketh in the counsel of the ungodly

forgiven

Dear Yadda,
on Ozpolitic you mix & socialise with the ungodly:

Psalms 1  KJV

[1] Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly.

LOL

bobby,

Quite true!

Psalms 1:1
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Hey bobby, that is why i would refuse to 'take counsel' from you.              Smiley

Someone who hates God.

errr, 'the Spanish Inquisition'

bobby,

Why won't you 'sheet home' the guilt and responsibility, for the wrongdoing, to the proper persons ?

Because men do evil....

.....God is therefore responsible ?

.....because God allows men, to 'reveal' themselves, to 'reveal' who they are ?

bobby,

God himself, gives us the right to choose, to make choices,      ....every day!

Psalms 14:2
The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

Jeremiah 17:10
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

We know [in our conscience] what is right and what is wrong.

Romans 1:19
Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

2 Thessalonians 2:12
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

No - Yadda must do his homework to realise that the Spanish Inquisition
came about from logical statements developed directly from the Bible.

bobby,

If you are confident that what you say is true,       ....that the Spanish Inquisition was justified....from logical statements developed directly from the Bible,        ....then make your argument,     .....here, in this forum, for everyone to see.

Yadda said.....
Quote:

If you believe that the Book of Revelation, is the
"The Revelation of Jesus Christ,"
then in that book....

Jesus said...
"...thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate."

Revelation 2:6
Revelation 2:15

Nicolaitans???

What does that word, Nicolaitans, refer to ?

'Nicolaitan', refers to those who [Nico] 'rule over' or 'conquer', and [the laity] 'the people'.

Jesus in Revelation, and, in the Gospels, said that he hated those hypocrites, who use the authority of 'religion' [turning religion into a 'beastly', false, worldly 'spirituality'], so as to rule over men.

Almost every religion of man does this.

Some religions [more than others] going to extreme lengths, to exert their authority over their adherents/devotees.

Matthew 20:25
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

Popes???

'Papa'?

"....And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven."
"...But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in."
Matthew 23:1-13

What did Jesus say about how to worship God ?

John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Matthew 6:5
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6  But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Inquisition

The Tribunal of the Holy Office of the Inquisition (Spanish: Tribunal del Santo Oficio de la Inquisición), commonly known as the Spanish Inquisition (Inquisición española), was established in 1478 by Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile. It was intended to maintain Catholic orthodoxy in their kingdoms and to replace the Medieval Inquisition, which was under Papal control. It became the most substantive of the three different manifestations of the wider Christian Inquisition along with the Roman Inquisition and Portuguese Inquisition. The "Spanish Inquisition" may be defined broadly, operating "in Spain and in all Spanish colonies and territories, which included the Canary Islands, the Spanish Netherlands, the Kingdom of Naples, and all Spanish possessions in North, Central, and South America." For the period during which Portugal and Spain were under common rule consult Portuguese Inquisition and Goa Inquisition.

The Inquisition was originally intended in large part to ensure the orthodoxy of those who converted from Judaism and Islam. This regulation of the faith of the newly converted was intensified after the royal decrees issued in 1492 and 1502 ordering Jews and Muslims to convert or leave Spain.[1]

The body was initiated and under the control of the Spanish monarchy. It was not definitively abolished until 1834, during the reign of Isabella II, after a period of declining influence in the previous century.

Various motives have been proposed for the monarchs' decision to found the Inquisition such as increasing political authority, weakening opposition, suppressing conversos, profiting from confiscation of the property of convicted heretics, reducing social tensions, and protecting the kingdom from the danger of a fifth column.

The Spanish Inquisition is often cited in popular literature and history as an example of Catholic intolerance and repression. Modern historians have tended to question earlier and wildly exaggerated accounts concerning the severity of the Inquisition. Henry Kamen asserts that the 'myth' of the all-powerful, torture-mad inquisition is largely an invention of nineteenth century Protestant authors with an agenda to discredit the Papacy.[2] Although records are incomplete, about 150,000 persons were charged with crimes by the Inquisition and about 3,000 were executed.

Ah!

So, the Spanish Inquisition was inspired by 'Demonic Forces'.

bobby,

No argument.

But bobby,

I'm still a little mystified.....

Where is the bit about the Spanish Inquisition being inspired by the contents of the Bible ?

Yes bobby, the Spanish Inquisition, organised and given authority by Catholic Monarchs and the Catholic church at that time.

bobby,

I did a quick search of that text for the term 'bibl',      ....as a part of the word, bible, or biblical.

But nup.

bobby,

Are you absolutely sure that Catholics priests have read the Bible, at all ?

Dear Yadda,
The Bible commands us to kill witches:

Exod. 22  KJV

[18] Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

Wis. 12  KJV

[3] For it was thy will to destroy by the hands of our fathers both those old inhabitants of thy holy land,
[4] Whom thou hatedst for doing most odious works of witchcrafts, and wicked sacrifices;

Rev. 21  KJV

[8] But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
