I tend to think otherwise..

the thing is its about someone who has probably signed something to say they would not divulge anything... like most public servants have too..

the point is red its about the leaks...its like spying....this sounds pretty blatant...even using the company photocopier.... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes pretty bold...and deceitful......what damage you are talking about I wouldnt know.. no one I know is in the least bit interested in the NBN...its the leaker that needs dealing with....they are the bad guy not the PM or the Leader of the opposition.....

why dont you guys look at the real picture here....

if it was your business involved I am sure you would be be a bit annoyed wouldnt you?...

wouldnt you even call in the police?..

This was designed to make Labor look bad but it has backfired in grand fashion.

The fact that an NBN Official was there for the raid, totally contrary to AFP Regulations and further that he photographed documents then shared them with colleagues beggars belief. That made the raid Unlawful. Evidence gained in the raid could well be excluded in Court because once they let the 'cowboy' in on the raid, it is very, very highly likely that it contravened the terms of the search warrant.

This is incredulous.

Andrew Colvin, AFP Commissioner needs to tender his resignation.

get real.... how do you know what is and isnt allowed when dealing with a govt dept...the NBN called them in....to look into their own dept

how do you know a few rules havent changed since your time....

I doubt a commissioner would make that kind of mistake... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes.. if he did I would think there would be quite a few voices explaining to  him he was wrong...

I fully understand the NBN's right to refer this to the police and the police's right to investigate and perform the raids. Nothing at all wrong with that.

Yes it is stealing info not saying it isn't, but again the whistle blower rights comes up which is another argument altogether.

I do however have grave doubts about the timing of the raids and of the governments claims that they weren't aware of it.

The special constable may have signed a non disclosure document but would have still had to get the OK from his superiors to attend.

Like I said even the dopiest CEO of NBN would have made the government aware that their staff were participating in a raid on an opposition MP's office as soon as he was aware of it, particularly at this sensitive time.

SO I AM SAYING SOMEONE IN THE GOVERNMENT KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO OCCUR  -

NOT SURE WHAT THEY COULD HAVE DONE ABOUT IT -

BUT IT MAKES THEM LOOK DODGY AND POSSIBLY IMPLICATED FOR POLITICAL GAIN!

of course I understand that.. but you did say it will impact more on turnbull and the rightards are hyper... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes...

so thats why I answered........seems to me everyone is taking their eye off the villain here......the leaker would have been in a high position access to a lot of info.....and I can only presume was being paid for their efforts...

to be honest red I dont even know what its all about... I am not interested.. only in the fact that it is blatant disrespect for their position.......

they are the baddie not turnbull....but I guess I am talking to the wind.

Who does the commissioner answer to?
Who tells him he is wrong?
Red makes sense, and given he is the only person here with real first hand experience in these things why would you shoot the messenger?

I agree cods the whistleblower is the real baddie.

But if the police were influenced by either the Government or their servant the NBN to carry out the raid at this time the whole thing is a disgrace.

Further more if the government were aware of the raid before it occurred and never requested the AFP to delay it until after the election they are complicit in attempting to use the raid to smear the opposition.

The last few years it has seemed routine for the Libs to be using the AFP. Or is it the AFP doing favours for the Liberals it's hard to tell.

ITS STARTING TO COME OUT!

Communications Minister Mitch Fifield has revealed he knew NBN Co had referred alleged document leaks to the Australian Federal Police.

Senator Fifield on Saturday confirmed he had been advised by NBN Co the matter, but did not tell Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull or any other ministers.

The AFP raided the Melbourne office of Labor senator Stephen Conroy and an ALP staffer on Thursday as part of an investigation into leaked documents.

It all comes down to the following question:

What did the Coalition know and when did they know it?

The other obvious question in this matter is

Why did the AFP choose to raid an ALP MP's office and not the offices of the newspapers that have published all the leaks?

THE STENCH GETS WORSE BY THE MINUTE!
