While there have been previous rumblings - which have always denied by Mr Turnbull - about him wanting to the join the Labor Party, today's revelations make it clear that his pursuit of a Labor seat was concerted and he made approaches to influential Labor figures across the party.

The various approaches by Mr Turnbull were revived in closed door discussions involving Mr Beazley and Mr Hawke at this week's Australian-US Leadership Dialogue in Melbourne.

Mr Beazley, the Opposition leader in 1999, confirmed yesterday he had a conversation with Mr Turnbull a year earlier at the Constitutional Convention.

Oh dear, DNA....  no need to apologise you and your ilk never do.

OK - so they were public servants -

yes - I know - they aren't allowed to release any info because it can embarrass the Govt.

That's all.

Yes - public servants sign a paper that says they will nor divulge privileged information or suffer a penalty up to two years in prison.  I had occasion to remind the Minister for Veterans Affairs and the Minister for Defence at one time that divulging information kept on Service files to a loose agglomeration of  (sic) "veterans",police and public servants (sic) was illegal and all public servants who did so could be jailed for two years and fined.

You will now notice that access to Service records is more severely restricted than in the past, and that even a certified Veteran sometimes has trouble accessing his/her OWN records... especially medical records.... (wonder why that is?)....  Shocked

The penalty is a lot more than 2 years -

basically a public servant can only release information
with the written permission of the minister.

Exactly what would I apologise for ? If you are right then Turnbull is one of the biggest liars in politics ? You normally believe everything the Libs say

I can clearly remember Longy telling me that it wasn't true.

Quote:
Federal Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull denies he has ever tried to join the Labor party, but says he has been courted by ALP figures over the years.

Former prime minister Bob Hawke and former party leader Kim Beasley are among Labor heavyweights who told News Limited Mr Turnbull had approached them for a job on Labor's then opposition frontbench, in 1999.

But Mr Turnbull says he was, in fact, courted by the ALP after his time heading the push to make Australia a republic.

"I have never approached the Labor Party about running for a seat in Parliament," Mr Turnbull said today.

Being wrong. My quote just proved it.
If you are right then Turnbull is one of the biggest liars in politics ?   You normally believe everything the Libs say.
Apparently you are clueless about Turnbull and no I don't believe everything the Libs say I hardly ever vote for them.  You on the other hand spout crap.  I try to be as factual as I can.

I can clearly remember Longy telling me that it wasn't true.
Woo hooo, you believe anything anyone tells you?  Next time you'll have more luck if you believe me.  Next time check for yourself first if you don't know before calling someone else a liar or wrong..

It would seem you are just here to attack people with ridicule and abuse Johnboy.

I'm not interested in any of that.

I'd much rather debate the issues and the facts.

I don't like having to waste my time replying to you flames and lies...

You are just a site TROLL... If Swinny knows it we all know it.

Go away or just waste someone elses time. Roll Eyes
