Not a Liberal though - they're not going to win Fremantle. Labor has held it since 1934. It's one of the seats where the Liberals can choose to field candidates just to get them campaigning experience without any real expectation of winning. Later on, such candidates may end up running in a different seat with better chances of winning. All the major parties do this to some extent.

Liberal candidate for Whitlam, Carolyn Currie, resigns citing lack of support

The Liberal candidate for the seat of Whitlam in southern New South Wales has resigned, citing a lack of support from branch and factional leaders.

Dr Carolyn Currie is a Mosman-based former merchant banker with a house in the Southern Highlands, inside the electorate.

Dr Currie said she did not get financial support from the Liberal Party and after attending a recent meeting of factional leaders decided to stand down.

She said she was like "a general without troops", so she felt she had to resign.
