Oh, Jacqui

Jacqui's claim:

"We have over a million 457s out there, and that's another reason why we don't have jobs here," Senator Lambie told ABC TV's Q&A on May 30, 2016.

The truth:

"Department of Immigration statistics show that the number of people who have been granted 457 visas (primary and secondary) which would still be valid as at the date of the last publicly available information — March 31, 2016 — was 415,103.

"The number of people who were actually using the visas in Australia on that date was 177,390."

Who was a big user of 457 visa's? That's right - Labor. Gillard had one in her office. Conroy hired tonnes of them to work on his shambolic NBN.

Which government has wilfully turned a blind eye to enforcement of 457 visa conditions? Abbott-Turnbull. Labour market testing is almost never enforced and that's why the 457 visas are a problem.

They should consider what Switzerland does. They have less restrictions on guest workers, except one important one: if unemployment exceeds 3%, guest workers are required by law to be sent home so the jobs can be given to locals. It seems to work well. The highest rate of unemployment in Switzerland in the past 25 years has been 5.4%. That is lower than the average unemployment rate in Australia in that time.

Why didn't I mention it? Because that would be OFF TOPIC. Why do you have such a problem staying on topic?
