There's also those red dots on the forehead some of those Gunga Dins wear. That might prove a problem in certain occupations.
In the last several months, I've had at least four Sikh drivers (well, one is a regular driver, but if he can't drive, he'll get one of his Singh mates to cover his shift.) Not one of them wear a turban, or have long hair.
Interesting. That genuinely surprises me. I would never refuse one of those guys a job. They were okay under the British Occupation, and I don't begrudge them their turbans and beards in the UK and here.
Some idiots up the NSW coast who ran an RSL club refused them admission because 'hats' are not allowed in the club ... yes,
"Believe it or Not!" These people have stood alongside the British in India, Hong Kong, North China - just about everywhere, and to now start whinging about their turbans and beards is a case of ignoring the history of our two peoples.
Yes, some of them rallied to the Japs during WWII, but all-in-all who could blame them while the Brits were still ruling their homeland?
A Sikh's headgear has nothing in common with the hijab.
The hijab is just burqa, lite.
