No need. You've come in late, so you haven't read my disclaimer.

There is a difference between the terms 'Brit' and 'Pom' - and it's one of politeness on the one hand, and derision on the other.

Any smartarse wog who pretends he doesn't understand that - is lying.

So how about 'W.O.G' which is said to derive from 'Wily Oriental Gentleman' ?

If POMMY (Bastard) isn't an offensive term, then why should ethnics be offended by the term 'Wog'?

I once had a couple of ethnics come to me in the workplace to ask me if they should be offended by the term 'Wog' - and I found myself hesitating. I often heard ethnics ironically calling each other 'wog'.

When I arrived in Australia I was surprised to learn that it's okay to call someone a 'bastard' as a term of endearment - something that is totally unacceptable in the UK.

'Bloody Yugoslav' was a set piece that always went together.

I agree that 'Pommy' only very rarely now carries with it the binary 'Pommy bastard', but even so the word 'Pom' or 'Pommy' carries with it connotations of derision and contempt to a greater or lesser degree depending on the context.

I'd be interested in hearing other's opinion on this. Don't be afraid to contradict me if you believe meanings have shifted over the years.
