You actually make a point you never intended to. The American Southwest was claimed by Spain who never developed anything there beyond a few Catholic Missions. When Mexico won its independence everything claimed by Spain was now claimed by Mexico. They didn't get any better reception from the Apaches and Comanches who actually lived there and had a legitimate claim then the Spaniards. The only attempt Mexico made was to invite Americans to immigrate to Tejas and then reneged on respecting the Rights of its new citizens.
So the point you made was that there have been illegal Mexican aliens in the American Southwest ever since there was a Mexico.
