If there is any backlash at all (IF) it pales in comparison to what would have confronted any other invading army in the history of mankind. They're still getting fed, clothed and sheltered, not having their heads put on pikes.

You miss my point. It was in response to those who claim her actions in the aftermath of her rape was purely a cynical political ploy. If she was interested in exploiting this for her political agenda, she could have just stuck to her story of white rapists and continued scoffing at anyone who claimed refugees were rapists. Turning around and admitting that yeah in fact, refugees can and did rape, and not only that - admitting that she actually lied originally for ideological reasons - is about the worst thing you could do to further that particular political agenda. As can be seen by the metaphorical raping she, as well as the refugee community is receiving now.

She committed a crime when she lied to police and they're not stupid they smell the stink of a bullsh1t story soon enough; their police interrogator would have her blubbering the truth whether she wanted to or not.

Her political agenda was pummeled in to a pile of garbage in spite of her lies and deceit; she deserves nothing but contempt and to be treated no better than her rapists.

Lighten up, G -- I never compared refugees to the Klan. I compared one act of misplaced sympathy to another.

And the point is, when people in a particular group commit crimes, they're the ones who are chiefly responsible for creating bad P.R. for their group, not the purveyors of some nefarious anti-refugee political agenda.

But according to the Daily Mail, the only reason she came clean is at a friend's urging -- after somebody else had reportedly been raped.

So she stuck to her story of white rapists for 12 hours, and what's more, she continued to stridently espouse her cause on Facebook even after finally telling the police the truth. Listen to her gush:

"I am really sorry that your sexist and line-crossing treatment of me could help fuel aggressive racism ... I will not stand by and watch, and it can happen that racists and concerned citizens name you as the problem. You're not the problem. You're usually a wonderful human being who deserves as much as any other to be safe and free. 'I will not stand by and watch and let it happen that racists and concerned citizens name you as the problem.'"

So even if she did admit that she lied for ideological reasons, her ideology remained essentially unchanged. Apparently in her book, racists are worse than rapists.
