But according to the Daily Mail, the only reason she came clean is at a friend's urging -- after somebody else had reportedly been raped.

As I said before, she still had to be urged - unless you are going to argue she was prodded to the police station with a big stick. You should at least give credit for that. It would have been far easier just to ignore her friend's advise.
1. I've said nothing about big sticks, prodding or otherwise.
2. Sorry, she gets no credit for honestly reporting a crime 12 hours after she reported it dishonestly, especially considering that her PC-fueled lack of candor put other women at risk from the same thugs for half a day.
3. So what if "it would have been far easier just to ignore her friend's advise"? It's far easier to avoid doing a lot of things that are difficult, moral and necessary, but that doesn't mean we deserve a special commendation for doing the right thing -- especially 12 hours late.

And..?
So she doesn't want all refugees to be vilified because of this crime, and thats a big issue for her. Thats a very honourable concern to have - for someone whose just been raped and for whom it would be far easier to simply hop on the bigot bandwagon in vilifying them.
I second Lord Herbert on this one: "How would it be vilifying a million newcomer refugees if she were to identify these three as her assailants?"
And let's not confuse bigotry with inconvenient reality.
How does it make someone a bigot to believe that refugees have been responsible for a disproportionate number of sexual assaults on European women when in fact, refugees have been responsible for a disproportionate number of sexual assaults on European women?
We have dramatic recent examples in places like Cologne, Germany:
"An estimated 1,000 women reported having been sexually assaulted by men operating in a seemingly coordinated way at Cologne’s main train station on New Year’s Eve ... The attacks, which deeply shocked Germany, were mostly blamed on men of Arab and north African origin."
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jul/07/german-mps-back-stricter-rape-laws...Gee, I just can't remember the last time a group of native-born German men got their jollies by group-groping 1,000 women at a public celebration, can you?
Moreover, we have older statistics that point to similar conclusions: In Sweden, for instance, the latest report (published in 2005) showed that "foreign-born individuals were 5.5 times more likely to be charged with rape than individuals born in Sweden to two Swedish parents."
Plus, "The website Muslim Statistics cites government data suggesting 77.6% of rapes in Sweden are committed by the 2% Muslim male segment of the population."
http://www.jewishpress.com/news/swedish-pm-is-right-you-cant-blame-muslim-refuge...If you don't like my statistics, I'll be happy to entertain any of yours that disprove them.
Unless, of course, this too is "way beyond your expertise."

And it is an unreasonable and unfair logical leap to conclude from this that she therefore thinks rape is unimportant, or less important than protecting refugees from vilification (when its refugees doing it).
Based on what ... besides your say-so?

Apparently in her book, racists are worse than rapists.

apparently, you are prone to logical fallacies.
And apparently, you are prone to pronouncements that have no substantiation.
