A MAN has admitted to animal cruelty charges after RSPCA officers found a number of sick dogs suffering horrifying injuries after being muzzled and left tied to trees.

James Patrick Connelly appeared in Grafton Local Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to four charges of animal cruelty in relation to four Border Collie dogs.

Connelly was fined a total of $8000 — $2000 for each of the four offences of failing to provide veterinary treatment for his dogs.

In October last year, a RSPCA NSW inspector attended a Woodford Island address on the NSW far north coast following a cruelty complaint regarding sick and injured dogs at the property.

Several dogs had been tied to trees next to the house — many of these had a thick plastic strap around their muzzles — leaving them unable to open their mouths to bark, eat or drink normally.

The muzzles had also cut into the dogs’ snouts, leaving wounds “emitting a foul stench of decaying flesh”.

Officers discovered more dogs were tied to poles and enclosed in cages in nearby sheds.

The living conditions were very poor with large piles of faeces and excrement around the dogs.

what ever drives any human to being this cruel....is beyond me.......however our laws are gobsmacking...

this man deserves jail....the investigation and the  court case would have cost more than $8000......this is a joke.. a very bad joke.

Ask ian, or Tony Abbott.

"Only Sociopaths Intentionally Hurt Animals: A Professional View"

"I am a psychotherapist who has worked with all manner of people, including individuals of all age groups as well as individuals with personality disorders. I have found (and other psychotherapists I’ve talked to and whose findings I’ve read about agree with me) that there is a correlation between individuals who harm or kill animals and sociopathic behavior."

Link

And yes, cods: it is disgraceful.
