we have been in the ME in some way shape or form for about 100yrs. There is nothing wrong with my timeline.

The ottoman's fought with the Central Powers against the Triple Entente in WWI one hundred years ago.

Maybe they should have kept their noses out European affairs?

that war was over a awful long time ago, and we still haven't gotten out of their affairs since. .. how long do you think the west should keep this up? another hundred? two hundred?

because as far as I can see, the longer this goes on and the more we dig our heels in on their turf, the more they retaliate on OUR turf

Bottom line is that the islamic world is a separate entity to the west.  They are our neighbours - we can get along well but you still wouldnt invite them to move in.

and by the same token many of them don't want us to move in with them

So you seriously think that the sunnis and the shia are murdering each other in the ME because of the West? That the Turkish coup attempt was due to Western manipulation? That Syria, despite the West keeping away from it for years, descended into sectarian chaos because ... what?

Are Muslims not responsible for ANY aspect of their miserable state? Is everything THEY do is the West's fault? You know this can't possibly so yet you seem to excuse them for all, deny them any role in the way they shape their societies and blame us for all their failings.

I don't give a sh1t about the Sunnis and the Shia's or Syria and their sectarian violence, I'm talking about the terrorist attacks in the West. I told you, the arabs can either sort it out or kill each other. Intervention hasn't worked and I see no reason to think that further intervention will work in the future.

who mentioned the coup? If you must know I suspect the coup was staged so that Erdogan could eliminate some opponents and give himself more powers.

How exactly are the 80 people,  run down and killed in Nice by a Muslim Arab they took in and gave citizenship to, responsible for their own deaths? The 130 killed in Paris last November, again, by Muslim Arabs they took in, gave citizenship and opportunities to?

How was Curtis Cheng, a migrant to Australia, responsible for being murdered in the name of Islam by Farhad Jabad, a refugee Australia took in and gave citizenship and life opportunities to?

Muslim are taken in by the West, are given citizenship, opportunities, rights and freedom but some of them still murder Westerners on the street of the West in the name of Islam and you say its the West's responsibility that they do this?

You cannot possibly believe this.

Muslims are attacking the west because the west attacked them first?

The French have been one of the least involved in the Middle East. The USA have looked for any reason to get involved often against the protest of France. Yet France has been the one getting hit over and over again by Muslims from everywhere; home grown, Middle Eastern, Eastern European, North African, etc. So where exactly is the connection between the more you bomb them the more they bomb back? Why is France being hit harder than others in the west despite interfering far less in the Middle East?

If this is just revenge then there are many other countries that should be higher up the list.

how are the thousands of women and kids killed in explosions caused by US bombs responsible for theirs?

you can try to cherry pick individual cases if you like, that's just deflection.

simply because they can ... they don't care if it's France, US, Australia or any other western country, they just care that it's a western country.

you're the only one to say 'first' .... the west has been getting itself involved in middle eastern affairs, in some way shape or form,  for over 100 yrs. At this point arguing who was first is irrelevant.

Then how does pulling out fix anything? We can pull forces out tomorrow, Israel is still there. So as long as Israel is still there they are going to keep blowing shlt up in the West? What if we pull out and Israel gets destroyed, do they keep blowing shlt up because we buy their oil and therefore have interest in the area? What if we pull out, Israel is gone, we cut off all business in the area, what's the next issue? We need to stop using the suez? Get rid of the border patrols between Greece and turkey? The borders between south Eastern Europe and the rest of the continent? Is Russia considered a western nation from the perspective of these clowns, and if so, does the west get bombed every time another skirmish happens in the southern parts of Russia?

Pulling out and basically building a political and trade wall around the Middle East isn't going to do shlt. Islam doesnt want to be contained but wants to spread to all parts of the world for the glory of Allah. Problem is the fanatical sand monkeys are out of their dunes and have been invited with arms open into western nations. These are Islamic fanatics that won't tolerate having infidels living on Allah's planet. Do you really think these walking time bombs are just going to settle down and live normal lives in western countries if we simple pull out of the Middle East? When pigs fry at Mecca!

The West divided up the Middle East into colonies, and then nation states. The West divvied some up along religious lines - Lebanon for Christians, for example. The West installed its own friends and military regimes. The West tried to take the Suez Canal, they kept the pipelines gushing, and fought over those pipelines. One reading of WWII is that Germany was beaten because the allies had more access to oil reserves. Throughout the Cold War.and into the post-Cold War era, this belief prevailled - particularly during the Bush II administration.

During the Arab Spring, people  in the Middle East finally woke up.

Woke up to what and when? Muslims have been blowing shlt up in the west long before 2011. Many of the spring nations weren't even big on oil sales to the west.

Germany lost because of oil? The Soviets and Americans were pumping out planes and tanks like Germany was making bullets. The soviets were sending troops in numbers that were greater than some nations populations. The Germans were sticking boys on the lines because they had no one else left. And let's not forget that their leadership went totally nuts by the end anyway. Oil shortages was the least of their troubles, especially with their access to synthetics.

Nonsense.

If it wasn't for the West there would have been no need for Arabic oil, and consequently the Arabs would never have evolved from their impoverished, diseased, nomadic, bedouin lifestyle.

Every structure in the Middle East has been paid for with Western money, and every improvement to the people of the Middle East has arrived through Western industrial enterprise, initiative, and invention paying for Arabic oil.

How much are we getting paid now for our mineral ores? Peanuts - FAR less than the West has been paying for Arabic oil.

I don't care about Israel ... As far as I'm concerned Israel is part of the problem. They want to live in the ME, they need to look after themselves. The rest of your hysterics doesn't wash.

the real problem is that you're given them a reason to be pissed off with the west, then you cry that they retaliate once they're pissed off. That it's written in the Koran just doesn't cut it. We also have heaps of crap written in the bible but people don't blindly follow it. That's an excuse, used by you and used by the recruiters for of the terrorist cells to get simple people who are pissed off the do their bidding. You think if you dropped a bomb on my family I wouldn't retaliate anyway I could? you're damn right I would.

there is no easy solution. We've tried getting involved and sending soldiers, we've been doing it for over 100 years. Things are worse than ever. It's time to try something new and leave them to themselves.
