If anything American cops need to be better armed. American cops need to become soldiers. It's that bad. Paramilitary.

I agree completely 'Mr Hammer.'  This bloke lying on his back with his arms raised and empty hands was clearly a nasty and threatening military presence and needed to be despathed to history despite the sneaky words of innocence which came out of his mouth.

He deserved each of those three shots.  What a disappointment only one hit him.

Link.

You have to be careful judging this instance from 50 seconds of footage when this  instance  probably went for 20 minutes. One thing these videos never show is these black men being non compliant. Do what the cops say- easy!!

Yeas, you are right.  That bloke, bristling with militaralia,  on his back with his arms in the air, and empty hands, the fella telling the cops he was not armed and neither was the other 'fella,' clearly failed to do what the cops said.

He deserved to be murdered.  Do we agree?
were you there?? did you see everything that went down??

I doubt it, but I did see (you would have too) that shot fella was exercising his right to bear an arsenal.  That much is crystal clear.

Ending the drug war would be huge for the US police/civilian relationship.

If somebody knows they're going to prison - possibly for a very long time - if they get caught with a bud in their pocket, they're going to be extra edgy around police, and police are going to be extra edgy around them.

Apparently the US prison guards union are one of the main lobby groups for keeping marijuana illegal.  They have the greatest incarceration rate in the world and the prison guards union are still drumming up business.   Roll Eyes

they can't do that or a lot of police stations would end up closing. Police stations receive a lot of extra funding to boost the 'war on drugs'.

I saw a doco once that said that police from small towns with low budgets can only update their vehicles etc by confiscating them from drug runners driving through the towns, especially o the towns along the main routes from mexico North. When the cars get a year or two old the cops will deliberately target the highways pulling over the latest model sedans they like, knowing that sooner or later they'll find one with drugs and they'll simply confiscate it as a proceed of crime. Same goes with 'other' types of property that they then sell to gain funds to replenish their equipment. Without this ability, these police in small towns would be driving ten year old cars and using outdated equipment.

that's because the majority of the prisons in the US are privately run for profit. More prisoners means more profit.

Australian says he wants US police forces disarmed, like his opinion has any bearing on the issue.

Bizarre,  I guess we just shut the Forum down if it is not for expressing opinions which have no bearing.

It might be worth considering this:

There’s no national police force in the US, where policing is organised on a state and local basis. The country has around 500,000 police officers and a total of 40,000 separate police forces, over half of which are simply one or two-man sheriffs’ offices in small towns.

So what?

OK. How you gonna do it?

And yeas, disarm the populace at least to the extent of making it illegal to carry (concealed or otherwise) in a public place.

That's your argument, right?

No.  My point is a response to Mr Smith's comment that disarming cops would lead to them being shot.  The facts clearly demonstrate that being armed did not, therefore does not, protect them from being shot.

Your argument remains utterly stupid. being armed DOES as a rule prevent them from being shot. 'as a rule' does not imply 100% of the time anymore than wearing a seat belt stops you from being killed in a car accident. But 'as a rule' they do.

The Americans have the 2A to protect them from idiots like you, typical leftard who wants to remove constitutional rights from people.

Statistics show those with concealed carry permits are responsible for less crime than those who don't have concealed carry permits.

Stick to driving taxis arsie you are out of your depth with anything else

prove it. PLUS, it is about as irrelevant a stat as you could get. But terribly important to a gun-nut.

Why'd you shoot me?

I don't know.

Take their guns off them.

The cop fired more than 1 shot. Man was on the ground, on his back with arms raised.

There would be more to this than simply cop shooting someone for no reason. I think the officer might have seen something deemed threatening (and I don't mean "a black guy") and took a shot. His "I don't know response" might have been part of a sardonic quip. Like, "why do YOU think I shot you?". I will be interested for an explanantion from both sides.

There is more to this apparently. The cops are now saying that the autistic feller had something in his hands which they mistook for a weapon (toy truck), they fired at him to prevent him shooting the black guy and missed, hitting the black guy in the leg. sounds credible.

Just need strict rules around police gun use. It seems there are none, just shoot if you want to seems to be the rule!
