First: you wouldn't be able to enter the country.

I'm not sure if you've ever been to an international airport, but you don't just walk off the plane and then out into the street.

So an international airport is not sovereign territory?

All Some toss their passports overboard before they get to Australia.
Now, one must ask why they would do this?

And one should listen to the reasons.

"Asylum seekers arriving by boat are fleeing persecution.

"They come from countries like Iran, Afghanistan
and Sri Lanka where opponents of the government
or ethnic minorities are routinely arrested, tortured
and killed.

"If they are caught before they can get away
or in a country that does not accept asylum seekers,
they will be returned and handed over to their government.

"Having tried to
flee, the asylum seeker is
viewed as a traitor as well as an opponent of the government and could be subjected to even worse treatment.

"For these reasons, asylum seekers often move
without identity documents so if they are caught,
there is a chance they can still get away.

"Sometimes asylum seekers need false identity documents to be able to get away safely, in this case, they destroy the documents once they no longer need them so they or the people who helped them get the false documents don’t get into trouble."

Reason 1

Some also come from Pakistan and want to live in Australia because its much more nicer.

Yep.

We're talking about asylum seekers here, though.

That's why I don't like boat arrivals.
I want the asylum seekers to be selected from the most needy and vulnerable.

If you want only yellow M&Ms the best way is to get a bag of yellow M&Ms. If you get a normal bag you have to spend all that time and effort sorting thru them, sifting out the yellow ones and working out what to do with the other ones.

We should ONLY accept refugees from UN camps close to their source countries.

Anyone can claim asylum yes?
Actually NO

Actually, it's "YES".

Anybody, at any time, can claim asylum.

However, they need to convince the authorities that they are a refugee.

You, like many others in here, don't understand the difference between a refugee and an asylum seeker.

It's perfectly legal to claim asylum.

They chuck their passports overboard so they can travel as a repressed minority from Afghanistan instead of a plumber from Pakistan. The government then had to bring in language experts to work out their dialects. That fa rked 'em. Now they don't bother chucking their passports away.

Because its ILLEGAL.

Not if you're claiming asylum.

Please read the post in full.

Simply claiming Asylum does not preclude you from proving it.

If you cannot prove it, you are entering the country ILLEGALLY.

What in that statement (apart from your reluctance to see logic) does not make sense?

It would stand to reason that those coming by boat are the most needy and vulnerable.

You do understand what an asylum seeker is, don't you?

Correct.

Claiming asylum makes you an asylum seeker, not a refugee.

However, if it turns out that you are not granted refugee status, you haven't done anything illegal.

Entering without a passport or visa, with the intention of claiming asylum, isn't illegal.

It should be illegal to enter australia unless you are the bearer of good positive energy and a sense of contribution.

We should be looking to take the strain off the german authorities, now they have a problem.

I have met many wonderful smiling intelligent good looking german back packers on fraser island who would love to stay in our country.

They are cheerful and smart.

They should be offered assylum.

Why is Sarah Hansen not on fraser island campaigning for the rights of these oppressed peoples to stay in our safe country after fleeing oppression at the hands of Merkel
