Better to allow 10,000,000 to die now until they can reach a manageable level.

Unless one of them was a child of yours, of course.

Exactly.
Because I would not have a child if I knew there was no chance for a decent life for that child.

That is the difference,
I think before I force my wife to have child after child after child, just because I cannot or will not control myself.

Tell that to the parents of one of the children you want to die.

Tell that to the child.

PB; I'll try and explain another position (hopefully) without satisfying  all of your preconceived stereotypes  of vileness. One of the pull factors that lead to 51,000 boat arrivals in the space of three years was the common knowledge among Indonesian people smugglers  that the ALP, the VERY politicised HRC and the leftist media where (and are) open to a good sob story. We've  now learnt, (such as in the case of the Somalian woman who claimed she was raped only to retract in the 11th hour upon facing the threat of deportation  for making false accusations) that the sob stories don't  even need to be true. We keep hearing of a lot about a few geniune cases of abuse scattered with hearsay, threats of self harm and outraged, hanky-wringing about the nature of detention. All very unfortunate  and sad. While not offering a justification; I merely ask, white-hamlet man; Do you have a PERFECT alternative  that doesn't  involve reopening  the Timor seaway, drownings in Australian waters and ushering in unscreened Jihadis?

No.

That's what we have an elected government for.

They need to start doing their job.

drownings in Australian waters

Drownings are tragic, no matter where they occur.

ushering in unscreened Jihadis?

Man Monis was flown into Australia, screened, granted refugee status, and then given Australian citizenship.

(All under the Libs, by the way)

Firsfly, the Australian Government is doing it's  part to prevent asylum seekers drowning at sea; if other countries refuse to adopt a stance that works, then perhaps you should be protesting the open border policies of other countries rather than adopting an illogical argument merely because it comes from your favourite thought criminals (the Liberal Party). Secondly, rehashing the same ole' posts over and over without offering solutions makes you yet another, standard SJW. Yea, it's  up to SOMEONE else  to come up with the answer; I'll  just sit back and take shots from behind the relative safety of a keyboard. Thirdly, Monis was screened and granted residency. That was a mistake. Is your argument that mistakes are made when asylum seekers are screened,so let's  not worry about screening?

Argue about who said what, it doesn't matter.!!

What matters is we stop this illegal treatment of people by our government, and start to behave like civilised human beings.!

What was your solution to this? Let them come, free for all, type solution?

"Aha! You have arrived unexpectedly by boat. Please come and have a free house, and live on the welfare system of Australia, in our community of your choosing", perhaps?

Don't be so utterly ridiculous.

That's like saying, "if you don't support capital punishment you must want all criminals to be released from prison".

The solution is: stop treating them inhumanely.

No. It is like saying "if you don't support detention of people to determine their identity, you can't complain when they run rampant through your community".

Do invent strawmen arguments on two different issues.

No.

Asylum seekers must be screened.

Moreover, I've never seen anyone say anything to the contrary.

The argument has been made that people should be detained in detention centres, until their identities and case for asylum have been made. You seem to be against that, other than being screened.

So, we get back to my point about needing to detain the asylum seekers. What is your alternative solution to detaining asylum seekers, whilst they are being screened?

Mandatory  detention is a function of screening maritime arrivals who like to ditch their passports. We've  been over this a million times. You don't  have an alternative that maintains the border security requirements  that most Australians demand. Classic keyboard warrior politics; attack the best policy that  EITHER party has come up with without offering  ONE SINGLE suggestion.

Yes.

You seem to love making quote pyramids. I wonder why you felt the need to obfuscate the response I made to you, by editing out what I wrote.

I think 3 meals a day, clothing, a bed, shelter, entertainment, medical attention, etc., were sufficient humane treatment for people who were not invited here.

Reports of asylum seekers committing self-harm and abuse against children are not something that helps their cause. In fact, it helps grow the number of people against having asylum seekers in Australia.
