Counter-terrorism officials were on Sunday searching for a bomber at large after 29 people were injured by a roadside blast in New York and a suspected unexploded second bomb was found nearby by police.

Investigators were examining a device inside a pressure cooker, apparently wired to a mobile phone, which was discovered inside a plastic bag a few blocks from where a powerful explosion fired shrapnel at pedestrians on Saturday night.

“Whoever placed these bombs, we will find and they will be brought to justice,” New York governor Andrew Cuomo told reporters at the scene. “We will not allow these kinds of people and these kinds of threats to disrupt our life in New York.”

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to authorities. “We do not know the motivation,” New York mayor Bill de Blasio said at a press conference at NYPD headquarters.

All those hospitalised by the blast were said to have been released by late on Sunday morning. Significant damage to surrounding buildings was reported, with windows being smashed as passersby screamed and ran for cover.

A 911 caller warned of further explosions right after the blast that rocked Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood and injured 29 people, The Post has learned.

“I’m looking at the explosion down the block. There will be more,” the unidentified male said, claiming to be standing at 23rd Street and Seventh Avenue in the aftermath of the terrifying incident, according to law-enforcement sources Sunday.

Investigators believe the blast was the result of a home-made, pressure-cooker bomb similar to an unexploded device found later on 27th Street, sources said.

In another new wrinkle, a hand-written letter, a portion of which is in Arabic, was found inside a plastic bag that held the second device, sources said.

Cops were interviewing two men who claim to have spotted a potential person of interest in the case, sources said.

The witnesses were dining at the Krush bar and grill on 32nd Street about a half-hour before the 8:30 p.m. Saturday explosion when they saw an Arab-looking man who was carrying a suitcase and appeared out of place, sources said.

That Chelsea area of New York is where the middle class rich go to spend their evenings. This could be one of Marla's Socialist Sickos upset about Middle Class Privilege and asshat Capitalist Exploiters, etc etc ...

NY Post:

FBI agents arrested five men who may be connected to Saturday’s bombing in Chelsea after stopping their car in Brooklyn, sources said.

The men were heading over the Verrazano Bridge from Staten Island when they were stopped Sunday night.

Sources said the FBI suspected the men may have had a role in the bombing and were questioning them at the FBI headquarters in Manhattan.

It is believed the men, who live in New Jersey, were heading to the airport when they were busted.

Meanwhile, New Jersey Transit says service on the Northeast Corridor line has been suspended between Newark and Elizabeth because of police activity near Elizabeth.

A source said that at least one explosive device was found at the train station in Elizabeth.

"New Jersey resident Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, is wanted for questioning over the explosion in the upmarket Chelsea neighbourhood on Saturday night.

New York mayor Bill de Blasio said the suspect "could be armed and dangerous".

Ahmad Khan Rahami, a 28-year-old Afghanistan-born US citizen who lives in Elizabeth, New Jersey, was injured in the gunfight, as were two officers.
