Nope.

The toilet was at the far end of the corridor, and had the door open, showing the raised seat in the distance in semi-darkness.

Nothing was said about finger-prints, and it took exhaustive inquiries and long months before a fellow confessed to the killing.

I've heard similar stories.

Guy goes to the toilet at his girlfriend's place, comes out and says "who is he"?

I was starting to think it was one of those lateral thinking puzzles, but was annoyed I couldn't find anything at all about it.

I eventually found these...

The toilet seat was up.

A woman who lives on her own never leaves the toilet seat up.

Thus, they knew that someone else - a man - must have been in her house quite recently.

Good research, Alinta, but my victim certainly wasn't a nun, and I don't think the guy they eventually caught was black.

The toilet seat thingy must be enjoying a vogue of some sort.

I live alone ...   and so if I'm found dead as an apparent suicide, and my toilet seat is found to be down, then it will be a case of cherchez la femme.

A book. It was actually the summary of a book written about this murder.  Smiley

No apologies needed, young lady.

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

I've just finished a tome called 'Infamous Killers'. Arsenic enjoyed a very popular vogue among female poisoners in the 19th century.

Another of The Usual Suspects trolling the threads this evening. Bugger the subject matter, just have fun trying to crash-tackle those who are attempting to add substance to these threads.

What do you expect?  You have no link, just some vague reference to something you read in a something about something in another book.  Don't panic Herbert, it was a good yarn, devoid of much real substance.  The dunny seat was up, and that was it......killer caught, tried and sentenced on just that bit of evidence.  Happens all the time, Herbert, I know.
