I've been paying pretty good attention to the fact that Trump has consistently been behind Clinton in the polls going way back to during the Primaries. I'm not sure why Trump critics are so desparately looking for this "beginning of the end" moment - the fact is, his whole candidacy has been one long succession of these moments. Opponents despair at the fact that not one of these has on its own been the big knock out blow, but really they can't see the wood for the trees: they are not seeing that the failure of Trump will not come in a single 'gotcha' moment, but each moment like these ensures Trump's steady and irredeemable path to doom. People are fooled by the fact that the US presidential system is a 2 person race - and so the public is always split pretty evenly along party lines - regardless of how good or inept each candidate may be. Thats why it looks like Trump is in with a chance - because a fair chunk of Americans will always vote Repug no matter what, and therefore the difference between the two will always be relatively close. People made exactly the same mistake about Romney's chances last time round.

The only reason why Trump is even remotely in with a chance is because Clinton is so fundamentally dislikeable on all sides. But ultimately the American people will come to the conclusion, perhaps reluctantly, that a despised establishment figurehead is preferable to a complete maniac. The repugs must be kicking themselves - being up against such a hated and scandal prone candidate as Clinton, and pretty much anyone else would have beaten her. But they chose Trump. If they can avoid another Trump, I actually rate the repugs chances for 2020.

The "pussy" comment wont hurt or lift Trump at this stage- his base has peaked and he is losing ground- I think his shock tactics which has has relied on to build himself to ever dizzying heights cannot get him over the line. Was kind of inevitable that people knew deep in their gut he was not the right man for the job.. he was good for laugh for awhile but you wouldn't be crazy enough put him behind the wheel.
