just seen these strange headlines..

A MAN acquitted of murdering his young lover has told police where he buried the body.

Detectives have spent two days at the Royal National Park south of Sydney with electrician Michael Atkins as he has finally broken his silence on what happened to the body of Matt Leveson, 20, and has taken police to his possible grave sites.

A MAN acquitted of murdering his lover has told police where he buried the body after he was given immunity from prosecution.

In sensational developments, detectives and forensic crews have spent two days in the Royal National Park south of Sydney after electrician Michael Atkins finally broke his nine-year silence.

It is understood Mr Atkins, 53, who was caught on CCTV buying a mattock and duct tape on the day his 20-year-old lover Matt Leveson disappeared has identified one or more burial sites in rugged bushland. Last night Matt’s body had not been found.

I wonder if 60 min will pay him for his story???....

what I dont get is how someone can lie in court.. by claiming they are NOT GUILTY......and still get away with it... Roll Eyes

.. no wonder Gerard clings to his Not Guilty claim I think I would too...it pays..in more than, one way

Just been watching this on the news. It seems the bloke was tried for murder last year and acquitted. He exercised his right not to give evidence at the trial. He then had to appear before a coronal inquiry where he was compelled to give evidence but that evidence could not be used to convict him of murder as he had already been acquitted.
However he admitted he lied to the coroner, so a deal has bee done not to try him for perjury if he helps find the murdered mans remains. The victims family were consulted and are happy with this.
It sucks that he will get away with murder, however having been acquitted he cannot be tried again in this case.

sort of true..if they find the body well its new evidence but they gave him immunity so thats that...

however he still lied to the court by claiming he was not guilty...isnt that perjury??..

I guess its ok to make up the rules if it saves money.....I hope this family find their boy..and get some peace out of it...

I dont agree with this process [deals] but there it is..
