Australia is rather unique in the world. Our country and our lifestyle is envied around the globe.  We have an exceptionally high standard of living, outstanding levels of freedoms and services and in a part of the world where robust democracy and unrestricted freedom is a bit rare, we are the standout in the region.

We weren't always great, but we certainly are now and have been since the post-war era.

Unfortunately, the Liberal shambles is trying to take away our freedoms and privileges, aided by that rotten yank, Murdoch.

Looks like AiA said I root dogs. That is the sort of creep AiA is. Thanks for showing that, AiA.

High unemployment, high cost of living, housing becoming unaffordable for the middle class....let alone the poor.

The place is a shithole.

its a paradox.

what makes people great is not the "stuff they have' but the "person they become' on the journey to "get that stuff'.

and the second paradox is that the 'stuff they get' doesnt make them happy and they have to learn that it is 'the journey itself' that is what makes you great.

now, in a country where you can exist, cope and just "survive but not thrive' you are not "forced' to go on a journey at all to get stuff.

so you have to put the "evolutionary pressure' on yourself to "make the journey".

and most people wont.

so australia isnt great in terms of having a great life, unless you take massive action

most people would become "more fulfilled , confident and full of legitimate self esteem' if they were parachuted into  the Congo and forced to go on the journey to awesomeness.
when it is too easy, then mediocrity will always be the default. when your DNA can pump out a few kids and you can do this whilst remaining a mediocre little toxic worm, then there is no evolutionary pressure to improve and most people wont.  and then they will bitch about their mediocrity and blame

the government
their boss
the capitalists
the media
their relatives
their neighbours.

its almost too funny that they wont ever look in the mirror

sound familiar?

I dont give a crap if you agree with me or not. Nothing gives you the right to cast aspersions on another's character simple because you disagree.  Grow up and get a character that can handle robust debate or get out of here.

I didn't say that. That is your guilty conscious talking, not me.

I think you meant to say “conscience” and you have said once more I root dogs.

Greasy innuendos are your specialty, aren’t they? Wonder what that says about you?

Thing that annoys me most is that many take our freedoms in this Country for granted.

Try writing what you think in China or the Middle East dum dum.

Considering we are the ONLY 'first world' democracy that denies our citizens actual codified human rights and our political overlords prefer a long held system of semi-permanent privileges and permanent obligations.

We have a population too stupid and too lazy to demand any better.

This is correct.
And the way to get people to become smarter and to work harder is .....

to train them that contribution and hard work are a joy, in and of themselves and they should bust out of mediocrity because they should have a bigger picture for themselves (this will work for 1 % of the population)

OR

to "force " them to bust out of laziness and stupidity by putting more and more pressure on them.
by making laziness and stupidity progressively more difficult.  we can see this happening at the moment with centrelink turning up the heat on laziness and stupidity.
Its painful for both parties.  it would be so much better if they just took the more noble option of the 1 % and began the climb up the "narrow road to success' voluntarily

You really need to feel you are superior to most other people, don’t you ’scoot?

Why is that, a yawning sense of inferiority?

You live in a world of unicorns which is why people generally laugh at you. After all, you are the one that literally derides THINKING.
