Nurses at Sydney hospital walk out over 'dangerous' conditions

By Mark Saunokonoko • Senior Journalist
8:19am Aug 1, 2022

"Dozens of nurses and staff who had just finished a busy night shift assembled outside Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital, calling on Health Minister Brad Hazzard to fix a "broken" system buckling under the twin pressures of COVID-19 and influenza."

"Staffing is absolutely horrendous (and) nurses are leaving the profession in droves."

Yep. And yet Victoria's issues are worse than this! Far worse!

It's truly tragic
A nurse in my family was telling me
They have a 210 kg diabetic
With leg ulcers
Who poos and pees the bed several times a day

This is totally self-inflicted
And this individual is expecting
3 or 4 highly qualified registered nurses
To treat this overgrown infant

It must be demoralise ing to enter the health sector
And have to deal with such ridiculous nonsense

I do believe I would leave to

That's because YOUR POLITICAL/GOVERNMENT excuse for a HEALTH System is SUBORDINATE  to the whims of such things as Politics and other industries and social constructs.
It is also 'culturally' FEMINISED as a female bastion (in the West like UK, USA also) - and thus all the 'WEAK-VICTIMHOOD' behaviours come out instead.

In other countries, like Cuba, New Zealand, Botswana, Mongolia and many others. Their Health Systems never play the 'victim' against Violence. That is why they are a 'success' to their countries and for the people at large.
Their Medical philosophy starts with improving the population's health right from the very start, not just saving them from the poor health they allowed them to acquire in the first place.

Your Health System is run by Politicians, not Doctors.
You get a Private system that offers less, while charging more and a Public system that hasn't the 'balls and discipline' to fight for itself and 'Health' as a priority beyond Unionised Protests for the 'Workers' getting more pocket money.

Male nurse (muslim) sexually molested a number of female patients at Sydney's Norwest and Nepean private hospitals

Patient no 1
"he grabbed her underwear, pulled them away from her skin and looked at her genital area"

Patient no 2
"inserting his finger into her anus while giving her an enema and putting his finger into her vagina while shaving her groin before an operation"

Patient no 3
"he allegedly touched her vagina before inserting his fingers, Beaumont told the jury"

Patient no 4
"he allegedly touched her breast and squeezed her nipple"

Not quite

The main complaint is usually under-staffing

The hospitals have modern equipment, so they're not really third world. But many of the workers are third world

A third world aspect of it are things like that muslim bloke sexually molesting female patients ... the book should be thrown at him, and then have him deported, but the judge will take pity in him and just fine him a few thousand dollars - appeasing the muslim community - but leniency only sends the wrong massage

Many inexcusable mistakes are made in public hospitals. One is the employment of idiots. Another is misdiagnoses, young and old patients die unnecessarily

There needs to be a whole new ethos adopted by public hospitals, a more humanitarian approach to patients' safety and double-checked diagnoses, as well as employing managers and staff trained in humanitarian people skills

Ok, you clearly have zero experience in the health field so I'll be gentle.

NSW hospitals are under staffed as anyone working in Queensland in a identical nursing position is paid on average $6 a hour more.

NSW attracts the....what's the saying?

Pay peanuts get?

Yes all new hospitals have modern equipment, made in either Italy or Spain and dumped into this part of the world because they don't meet either Europe or American standard.

They will basically give away the equipment to tie the health service up to redculous increased costs on consumables.

There is no tender process and it's about time a senate enquiry was started into the continued support of one company that constantly wins contacts even though EVERY new build they supply for is a complete disaster!
Should I name names and give examples?

Love to but would never gain employment in the industry again.

I raised this very issue of staffing when I was in for cardio ..... the head nurse told me that graduates from the building next door all headed for other states for higher pay... how much does it cost to move states ...... on Saturday night they were short and rang around, offering triple and then quadruple time to come in... nobody took it....

I figure too many are spoilt these days and do not see their job in medical fields as a sacred calling.  That's what I tell medical students and they hate it.... full of vim and vigor and this old bastard tells them they are dorks in the main and just starting to learn... rote learners are a dime a dozen.... those of the true faith are rare.

My GP is of the faith - she has rung me on phone consultation at 8 pm, getting me to tell her to knock off at no later than 6pm.... 5pm in the surgery and one hour and no more for phone consults.  She recently had a baby and took two months off then came back - on contract - no maternity leave - WTF?  Now she's off sick .... not good for mum or bubs or patients ... the money she brings in to that surgery..... she'd be a millionaire in a week on her own... crazy world.

I'll write to the bastards.

The majority of GP are doing it for the right reasons and work untold hours.

For unfair pay compared to so called " specialists" .

I have shared to much so will stop posting.

Interesting to note the the state of the art brand new tweed valley Hospital is in a state of crisis.

Difficult to get one day with all equipment working and due to the late opening everything is out of warranty all ready!

Our taxes being spent by X minister for health Brad Hazzard.

They have staff lockers for 1400 ppl.

Staff parking for 700.

Someone in NSW health can't do basic maths given that there virtually no public transport because they built it in the middle of farm land.

First World money spent!

Third World results

Male nurse, claiming to be a sex addict, made inappropriate comments to female staff at Orange hospital, and chatted with an underage girl on social media, but it was the cops

"If you were 16... I'd love to bend you over in your netball uniform," he wrote"

https://www.9news.com.au/national/nurse-booted-for-online-chat-charge-sexual-adv...

On appeal they took pity on this sex maniac and reduced his sentence of two years de-registration ....

"Details of his misconduct emerged on Friday after the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal struck the 36-year-old off the register of nurses for two years and barred him from providing health services during that time"

"He pleaded guilty and was eventually convicted of the charge but managed to reduce his sentence on a successful appeal to the District Court.
In February 2023, he was released under conditions that he be of good behaviour for three years and pay $1000 in security"

Nothing surprises me about Orange Base Hospital, it's the worst hospital in NSW, has been for a very long time, the female manager is a dopey twit

It's easy to complain.
I wish I had answers.
Perhaps a return to local hospital board's oversight on executive appointment and performance?

There also needs to be a senate inquiry into the failure of brand new multi million equipment purchased.

It's hard to believe that no matter how poorly this " state of the art" equipment performs it's always the first choice for the next new hospital and no one is held accountable for its total failure at the last new hospital.

And seriously, what brain building a new hospital and remove a perfect tar parking area to create a " green space"?

Nothing will happen, utterly third world management on above first world wages.
Out of respect for the hospital staff and the Tweed valleys residents they should resign.

Chris Minns is monitoring it , read doing less than nothing.

It all falls at Brad Hazzard feet, but his retirement is fully taxpayer paid and not linked to utter incompetent in the role as health minister.
