Treasurer threatens tax hike to fund NDIS
February 15, 2017
News.com.au

Treasurer Scott Morrison has threatened to increase taxes if a raft of welfare cuts worth billions of dollars are blocked by the Senate.   Huh

The government expected to generate $5.6 billion in savings through its welfare omnibus bill - which appears certain to fail - earmarking $1.6 billion for childcare fee subsidies and the remaining $4 billion for the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

"If you don't fund it (the NDIS) by getting welfare under control, you've got two other options, increase taxes or increase debt," Mr Morrison told News Corp.

Labor, the Greens, the Nick Xenophon Team and Jacqui Lambie have all signalled they will reject the bill, leaving only One Nation in favour.   Smiley

The problem with most numpties is that they don't realise 'free' stuff costs a lot of money and money needs to be acquired in one of a very few ways.

1. Makes savings elsewhere and spend only what you have (preferred)

2. Take more money from people and spend, spend spend. (not preferred)

3. Borrow money and worry about paying it back later. (the greek option)

Don't complain when your taxes are increased if all you do is demand 'free stuff' from the government.

Most parasites learn to not kill or irritate their hosts.

what a load of rubbish. If they didn't qualify for it they wouldn't be getting it you fool.

Oh you poor misguided fool. You really have no idea how easy it is to dupe the system, do you?

Which system? The corporate tax system where $30 billion a year of tax savings can be found without even breaking a sweat? That system?

How many billions does the government lose each year because of Swan tripling the tax-free threshold?

None. After accounting for inflation, the tax free threshold has the same value it had in 1983.

How many billions does the government lose each year because of Costello cutting taxes on the rich and cutting the CGT?

So if that's true, why didn't Swan do anything about it? He had ample time and opportunity. It's not like he couldn't have passed any legislation he wanted to.

The Senate.

If you lower or axe the private health care rebate, then you will increase pressure on the public system

bulls1t. Thats the private health industries and libs scare tactics, with little basis on truth

Let me dumb it down for you, dumb-dumb. If you lower the rebate, private health insurers will have no choice other than to increase fees because contrary to your erroneous beliefs, medical care costs a lot of money. So when the fees for private health care rise, many who can only just afford it will be forced back onto the public health system, putting further pressure on it. This will also lead to a decrease in the level of healthcare for patients as they endure longer wait times.

Better idea dummy is shut down the Private Health Insurance scam and put the money into medicare they could expand medicare to cover dental as well and still have money left over!

Do you even know what the waiting time is to see a dentist in the public system? Good idea, dummy!

You're really not the sharpest tool in the shed when you post crap like that. Do you even know how Medicare works?

With the amount of money the Federal Budget spends on the PHI rebate, we could fund $300 of basic dental care a year for every person in the country. Medicare Dental is affordable.

Great, so it's cheaper and the waiting times blow out even further. I used to live in Newcastle and to see a dentist in the public system entailed waiting 4-6 months. That's how far out in advance the dentists were booked out. That's before your magical plan. Imagine how long the waiting time would be under your plan.

You still don't get it. You really should work out how Medicare works before posting more of your stupid nonsense. It's been in place for more than 30 years, and you STILL haven't worked out how it works? Are you being stupid on purpose or is there a village missing its idiot?

Is there a four-month waiting time to see a doctor because they charge to Medicare? NO. There ISN'T. Why would Medicare dental care be any different? Medicare dental would lead to SHORTER waiting times for public dental, not longer, and only those procedures not covered by Medicare would even need this. Otherwise, people would be able to access PRIVATE dentists, just like they access PRIVATE doctors.

There is a massive problem with the "senate".

In order for the herd to prosper, the alpha male at the top has to be able to decide on herd policy and the beta's have to be forced into line (for their own good).

the betas (essentially sheep) are under constant threat from the wolves and the alpha needs the freedom to do what is necessary to keep the wolves away.

But the senate are a corrupting influence on this time honoured and tested system.

the senate , by interefering in "natural law" put the sheep at risk.

for example, by not allowing alpha male Scott Morrison to run the paddock correctly, the "wolves" (in this case asian businesses) are slowly eating the sheep.

The wolves are buying the pasture from under the noses of the sheep, who will be relegated to poorer and poorer pastures. Whilst the wolves live on prime pasture in inner sydney, the sheep will be forced out to dry paddocks in western sydney and they will be slave labour to the new alphas, that scott could not keep at bay.

So the senate , is actively working against the interests of Scott but in doing so, is actively seeing the sheep get cheered off the cliff.

its time the sheep woke up and told the senate to leave it to scott. but they are sheep, so this wont happen.

poor scott...he wants to protect them but he cant.  i guess they'll just have to die of starvation

Why doews it always come down to ALPHA this and ALPHA that?

As for the herd.
They are culling the horsies because there are too many of them.
Perhaps we need to consider similar actions for our pollies and pubic servants.

As usual the LNP & it lackies expect those with the least to fund those with the most.

To answer your question NOT NEARLY AS MUCH AS CORPORATE TAX REBATES (50 billion reported only Monday)

Only a true C@#t would pit those on welfare against those with a disability.

I agree Smithy....If the private health care rebate, superannuation concessions, negative gearing and capitol gains tax where all reigned in as the ALP proposed their would be no funding shortfall for the NDIS....The priority for the LNP is being re elected not looking after the disabled who do not vote for them!!!

Angry Angry Angry

If you lower or axe the private health care rebate, then you will increase pressure on the public system. Better to pay a little to have people in private health care than to pay a lot for more people to use the public system.

How so?  All the private hospitals will still get their well-heeled clients, and they will still get rebates ONLY.... let the business model be as business model and not a social business model as and when it suits.

Morriscum could easily pay for the NDIS by abolishing negative gearing but it's obvious that hoarding old dumps built decades ago is more important than the welfare of disadvantaged people !!

So you want to massively increase taxes to pay for your 'free' stuff'?

And you think 'the rich' aren't smart enough to find a way around our sh1t fight of a tax system to not pay those taxes anyway.

What a brilliant plan, you should run this country all on your own.

I stated the options early, it included raising taxes, but it would be everyone's taxes, not just the ones smart enough and rich enough to avoid them.

Spend less

Tax more

Borrow more

Free stuff provided by the government is always fkken expensive.

Im happy to pay more tax if it helps those who need it , i will say i find it remarkable that we can spend 50 billion on subs and 80 billion on planes and keep a straight face whilst we stick the boots in to down trodden in these times of record underemployment and unemployment and low growth
