Im happy to pay more tax if it helps those who need it , i will say i find it remarkable that we can spend 50 billion on subs and 80 billion on planes and keep a straight face whilst we stick the boots in to down trodden in these times of record underemployment and unemployment and low growth
That link DSmithy put up showing $50B in subsidies to gas companies is ridiculous. What the fkk is wrong with these damn politicians? We're paying them to take our gas instead of the other way around. if you ran a business like that you'd be broke within a month. No wonder they have no money to help the poor.
The PRRT was designed by one Craig Emerson and passed into law in 1987.
No doubt to the howls of protest by Costello & Howard, how it would stifle investment, cost jobs, you know the same CRAP they sprout now.
Remember the outpouring & hand-wringing over poor Gina with the MRRT.
I don't give a stuff who brought it in or who has let it remain.
They are flogging our LNG off for commercial rates, paying us a pittance THEN claiming 50 BIL off their tax
Pay the 50 Bil
Pay a decent rate for the LNG in the 1st place
1 or the other
Quote:Having just spent $200 billion over the best part of a decade to become the world's biggest exporter of LNG, Australia is now looking down the barrel of having to import gas for domestic users.

Domestic energy producers are connecting with wholesale exporters of gas as part of Australia's transition to become one of the biggest exporters of LNG.
However, big multinational LNG companies are facing significantly higher costs, and those costs are expected to be passed on to local suppliers and, ultimately, Australian households.
